Hairspray Manila — A Sneak Peek During Rehearsals

Hairspray Manila director Bobby Garcia kindly allowed me to invite a small group of internet writers and bloggers to a Hairspray rehearsal on 24 October 2008 to steal a sneak peek of how the Manila cast is faring with the Tony award winning musical that’s set to open on 14 November 2008 at Star City at the CCP Complex.

Female Network The Female Network team was also in on the action as they wrote about the sneak peek rehearsal, which features its own gallery of images taken during the rehearsal, plus a short clip of the cast singing Welcome to the 60s!. There is also an exclusive interview with Michael de Mesa regarding how it feels playing a woman.

Philippine Entertainment Portal The PEP Hairspray article features interviews with Michael de Mesa, who plays Edna Turnblad, and newcomer Madel Ching. There’s also a gallery of pictures.

Hairspray Manila runs from 14 November to 07 December 2008 at the Star Theatre, CCP Complex. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketworld at 891-9999.
