Hairspray Manila Cast Shake and Shimmy
The guys and gidgets of the Hairspray cast are rehearsing their shake and shimmy moves as they prepare to bring the Tony award winning musical onstage at Star Theater at the CCP Complex.
Madel Ching makes her professional theatre debut as Tracy Turnblad, one of the most demanding roles for a musical theatre actress. She appears in all but two scenes in the musical. To support her, Atlantis Productions has put together a stellar cast. I’ve listed the cast and their film counterparts for easy reference:
Michael de Mesa as Edna (played by John Travolta)
Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as Velma Von Tussle (played by Michelle Pfeiffer)
Dulce as Motormouth Maybelle (played by Queen Latifah)
Tim Espinosa as Link Larkin (played by Zac Efron)
Nyoy Volante as Seaweed J. Stubbs (played by Elijah Kelley)
Leo Rialp as Wilbur (played by Christopher Walken)
Noel Rayos as Corny Collins (played by James Marsden)
Christine Allado as Amber (played by Brittany Snow)
Monica Reynoso as Penny (played by Amanda Bynes)
Gabe Mercado will play the Male Authority Figure, while Enchang Kaimo will be the Female Authority Figure.
In the ensemble are Jordan Aguilar, Emy Alcid, Caisa Borromeo, Erika Cedilla, Red Concepcion, Gerlin Francisco, Bea Garcia, Crienna House, Yanah Laurel, Cheeno Macaraig, Michael Odoemene, Anthony Ong, Myrene Santos, Mark Tayag, Mayen Bustamante – Cadd and Lee Villoria.

Hi! I see a familiar face in one of the casts. I think one of them auditioned for HK disneyland… or … I might have mistaken her for somebody else…(I think i saw her there-July of this year—and she did very well at the auditions.
