Chuckles — The Magic of Audie Gemora

As Audie Gemora and I chatted before the start of the evening show of West Side Story at the Meralco Theater on 11 October 2008, several people approached him to have their programs signed, leading the West Side Story producer to protest jokingly, “But I’m not performing.”

Then a young man came over to have his program autographed too, and told Audie in a deferential tone, “I watched you when I was about ten years old in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

After he left, Audie mock-moaned about getting older, and I seriously kidded him, “Wow, Audie! You’re so magical! You brought them into the theater when they were kids, and, now, you’re still bringing them back to the theater!”
