Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Calls Me a Liar (Ire)
Specifically, Louie Reyco of the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines plant in Sta. Rosa Laguna where Minute Maid is bottled implied that I was a liar by saying that my claim of low to almost non-existent pulp in a one liter bottle of Minute Maid is “imposible (impossible),” “hindi po pwedeng mangyari (it cannot possibly occur)” and saying that there would be more complaints if a certain batch of Minute Maid proved unsatisfactory.
These comments were made during an unrecorded conversation at 8.15am on 03 October 2008.
Unprofessional Demeanor When I was informed by the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Consumer Care Hotline last 29 September 2008 that I was going to be called by someone from the plant, I was very apprehensive because I feared that the person would not be well trained with how to deal with consumer complaints.
Even if one is doubtful of the consumer’s claims, one should simply try to listen and say standard things like, “Thank you for your feedback. We will look into it.” (Or the Tagalog version of it.)
I even tried to assist Mr. Reyco several times by telling him to “be careful” and “malapit na po kayong mang-insulto (you are coming quite close to offending me).” However, Mr. Reyco persisted in explaining how my claim cannot occur because of the agitation, heating and bottling process that Minute Maid goes through.
Minute Maid Purchase Details To further assist Mr. Reyco, I gave him the product codes of the two one liter Minute Maid bottles that I purchased at the same time from Rustan’s Ali Mall with the offer to have them picked up at my residence.
UNsatisfactory: 11MAR9U50716 (with approximately 200ml Minute Maid juice that I didn’t drink for the usage of Coca-Cola technicians/consumer lab for whatever sampling, experiment or investigation they want to do)
Satisfactory: 11MAR9U50754
Report to Consumer Care Hotline I have requested for an email address from the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Consumer Care Hotline to call their attention to this incident.
And, upon Consumer Care Hotline agent Melanie’s urging that I call back for any more concerns, I tiredly said, “No, I take the time out to give feedback and I’m called a liar.”
What I would love to happen is to have an independent lab and Coca-Cola Bottlers test the same sample. If anyone knows a consumer lab, please let me know. I have saved 100ml of the contested Minute Maid juice.
UPDATE #1: Mr. Reyco is personally picking up the Minute Maid sample. I will split the sample into two in his presence.
UPDATE #2: Mr. Reyco was the one who halved the juice, signed that he has received it, and presented me with 12 bottles of 1L Minute Maid. Thank you Coca-Cola!

how cool…
huge companies do listen pala sa comments and reactions ng consumers nila.
though matagal, still nakikinig pa rin :]
To Coca-Cola’s credit, this is already one of the fastest responses I’ve experienced.
Eew, people actually like Minute Maid? In my opinion it’s no match for Tropicana, or the old Japanese brand of pulpy OJ (Sac-Sac, if memory serves).
Hay nako. There are way too many lazy and mindless and mostly stupid people in big companies who believe that THEY are always right. *sigh* I have my own share of big company reps who I need to deal with everyday and yet, canNOT show my anger towards them since they are the clients.
But still, they can’t treat THEIR clients (consumers) the same way they don’t want to be treated, right?
Companies do listen
I make it a point to let them know if I have valid complaints. To cite one, I was very impressed with Mrs. Fields Head Office. They texted me 5 minutes after I faxed my letter (due to the poor attitude of one of their counter staff) and they were very gracious in all their emails and follow up texts…
Yup.. I have encountered that too.,,since it is best to shut up when not needed so I just ate my pride…but i guess the one to blame is the lazy system user not the company name..
It is best for us to treat our client as patient as possible..because it’s no personal but business…
I have a complaint but the sales people here at tarlac city are not taking action at all. though they visited my house and investigate and found that my complaint is valid.
I’m an owner of sari-sari store and always purchase bottles of coke and sprite. recently, one of bottle of sprite i purchased have a used candy wrapper floating inside the bottle of sprite. until now hindi pa namin binubuksan ang bote for complaint purposes. nakita nila at kinuha pa ang serial number sa bote…
