3 Surprising Things I Discovered About Bloggers
The bloggers’ attendance rate was 75%. During the scheduled La Boheme rehearsals on 01 October 2008 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, I mentally prepared myself for a 30% turnout rate. Why? It’s a holiday so people might rather just stay home. Number two, it’s been raining incessantly so there’s a chance that streets might get flooded, blocked, etc.
Surprisingly, a lot of bloggers arrived, and quite early, as a matter of fact, that the turnout rate became 75%.
Bloggers are a pretty understanding and flexible lot. I was freaked out by the fact that the rehearsal had started at 6pm instead of the scheduled 8pm, so there was a possibility that those who might arrive at 8pm or later might not catch anything.
Later, Karla Gutierrez of the Philippine Opera Company apologized and clarified that there were two scheduled rehearsals, one from 6-8pm, and the next one, which the bloggers were supposed to observe, was from 8-10pm. However, when the 6pm rehearsal got extended beyond 8pm, the second one got canceled, and that’s why majority of the bloggers only saw Acts 3 and 4, because they caught the tail end of the first rehearsal.
All the bloggers were very understanding of the sudden change, and, after the rehearsal, everyone was willing to wait patiently for Director Floy Quintos to finish giving his notes to the performers before he could attend to us.
More male bloggers were willing to find out about opera. And, in a rare occurrence (since it’s a “culture’ related activity), there were more male bloggers than female, approximately 70%. What a very pleasant surprise!
Again, thanks everybody for the support and taking the time to observe the La Boheme rehearsals!

Well, it was a chance to watch an expensive show for free, just for blogging. As for being understanding, your invitation sounded like “naisingit kami sa sked” so we went in with that in mind.
uh-oh. are we ever going to get invited again to stuff like this?
sigenuh, i promise to be good.
it was lovely having had such an experience.
Hi missingpoints. The bloggers’ activity was definitely scheduled. However, as I’ve explained, the demands of the rehearsal necessitated the extension, thus, the time change. What was not sure was whether Floy could meet with us after the rehearsal, which I explained in my reminder email, since the demands on him as a director are numerous before opening night.
And, Jester, chances are there will be a next time.
Thanks again for going to the La Boheme rehearsal!
haha, na-guilty tuloy ako since i was one of those peeps who didn’t show up at the rehearsal.
Hey, Gus. Not to worry, there will be other activities. Maybe you can make it then.
Thanks again.
