Harry Potter Author Wins Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

CNN reports that the lawsuit of Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, against the publication of a Harry Potter Lexicon, has been ruled in her favor by a New York judge.

U.S. District Judge Robert P. Patterson “permanently blocked publication of the reference guide and awarded Rowling and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (TWX, Fortune 500) $6,750 in statutory damages.”

Ironically, the writer of the Harry Potter Lexicon, Vander Ark, is an ardent fan of J.K. Rowling, who earlier earned her praise and admiration for his Lexicon online, which was free and without charge for all Harry Potter related inquiries.

Sadly, Vander Ark might turn out to be a pariah in the very community where he was once highly regarded.

J.K. Rowling, in a reply relating to one of her characters, once commented, “I loathe a traitor!”
