Matt Mullenweg Highlights from WordCamp Philippines 2008

Matt Mullenweg presented WordPress 2.7 in its world premiere during WordCamp Philippines 2008, which is the first WordCamp in Southeast Asia.

During WordCamp Philippines 2008, it was announced that Friendster is converting to WordPress.

When a camper asked if Google Adsense ads were going to be integrated into WordPress.com in the future, Matt Mullenweg answered, “Possibly.”

When asked who he was going to vote for [in the US presidential elections], Matt Mullenweg replied with a famous Barack Obama salvo, “I believe in change.”

When Matt Mullenweg was asked if Filipinos can be hired for his virtual company, he assured the campers that he firmly believes in the law of hiring people irregardless of race, age, and sex, and then provided the necessary info. Go to automatic.com-jobs

Matt Mullenweg shared that WordPress can be converted to Filipino and that WordPress in Bahasa Indonesian is very popular in Indonesia.

Matt Mullenweg displayed some of the more popular WordPress tags in Filipino. Interestingly enough, the most popular one was mamon, which sent the whole auditorium laughing, at which point, Matt related that, in Italy, the top one was the Italian word for blowjob.

Matt Mullenweg thought that the WordCamp Philippines 2008 shirt has the coolest shirt design.

Matt Mullenweg is originally from Texas USA and never imagined the success that WordPress is currently attaining.

Matt Mullenweg is the creator of WordPress and he gave a talk then answered campers’ questions during the Q & A.

WordCamp Philippines 2008 was organized by the Mindanao Bloggers. WordCamp Philippines 2008 was held on 06 September 2008 at the Augusto-Rosario Gonzalez Theater of the College of St. Benilde.

Aside from the organizers to thank for putting this together, I would also like to thank the sponsors who have provided their support for this event:
