Eraserheads Ely Buendia Rushed to Hospital During Concert

I first had an inkling that something went wrong during the reunion concert of the Eraserheads when I overheard a conversation while going home from Megamall at 12mn on 30 August 2008. A guy related to his companions that, according to a recently concluded phone conversation with his friend, the Eraserheads concert at The Fort open field wasn’t able to finish because band member Ely Buendia had a “heart attack” and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP confirmed the story and reported that after the band sang several of their famous hits, the concert was cut short for a 30 minute break.

The 30 minute break lengthened to 40 minutes, after which Ely Buendia’s sister, Lally, came out onstage to announce, “Because of the emotional and physical stress that [Ely Buendia's] experiencing, we apologize for cutting the concert short. My brother had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Again we apologize and we thank all of you for coming here tonight.”

Philippine Daily Inquirer or PDI has been able to confirm that Ely Buendia is in stable condition while recovering in Makati Medical Center. Earlier last year, Ely had a heart attack on 07 January 2007.
