Joanna Ampil and Christian Bautista Sing Tonight from West Side Story
Joanna Ampil and Christian Bautista Finally, the long awaited pairing of Joanna Ampil and Christian Bautista was presented during the press con at Discovery Suites on 06 August 2008.
To heighten the excitement, the short program first featured Joanna Ampil with the highlights of her illustrious musical career, such as the moment when she became the first Asian to play Fantine in Les Miserables by having her sing I Dreamed a Dream, and then when she was personally handpicked by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber to open the new production of Jesus Christ Superstar as Mary Magdalene by letting her belt out I Don’t Know How to Love Him.
Joanna Ampil then shared the stage with Australian import Rowena Vilar as they sang Movie in My Mind from Miss Saigon. The beautiful duet was followed with Rowena Vilar pairing off with Gian Magdangal while Christian Bautista joined Joanna Ampil onstage for the Sun and Moon number from Miss Saigon. And then, finally, a duet from West Side Story — the musical version of Tonight.

She has attained the Intermediate Level of Classical Ballet, R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dancing) syllabus with flying colours (Highly Commended) at a tender age of 14.
