Chuckles — From Vanilla and Chocolate to Strawberry Ice Cream
After a satisfying meal, I asked my sister-in-law if they had ice cream, preferably something with chocolate. When she said yes, I eagerly rummaged through the tins of ice cream in the freezer until I came upon a Cookies ‘N Creme variant, which is a combination of vanilla ice cream with bits of chocolate cookies.
As I brought the ice cream to the dining room, my six-year-old nephew spied the dessert and asked if he could have some. Of course I said yes, but, I watched in apprehension as he used the scooper to get three rounds of ice cream.
When I looked inside the container, I gleefully noted there was an estimated scoop and a half left for me. However, my nine-year-old niece also requested for some of the frozen treat.
Resignedly, I gave it over, and then noted that after she had her fill, there were about two meager tablespoons remaining for my consumption.
After I finished it off, I got a scoop of strawberry ice cream and halfheartedly began to eat it. Woebegone, I commented with a self-pitying sigh, “Hindi ba ako ang nakaisip ng chocolate? (Wasn’t I the one who thought of the chocolate)?”
My sister-in-law replied, “‘Di ba parang gaya ng High School Musical (Isn’t this like what happened in High School Musical)?”
And then, I remembered a recent incident when I bought a Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate for myself, but the kids ended up drinking most of it. We both laughed at the recollection.
