Chowking Treats Bloggers (and Family Members) to Halo-Halo
Chowking, with the help of Yehey.com, offered a halo-halo treat and other Chowking goodies to bloggers last 21 May 2008 at Chowking The Fort.
The Secrets of the Chowking Halo-Halo The sales of Chowking Halo-Halo comprise an estimated 25% of the company’s total income during the summer months, prompting management to invest Php 80M in snow ice machines with the objective of further improving a very popular product by coupling finer ice crystals with the 12 ingredients or sangkap of the Chowking Halo-Halo.
The 12 ingredients or sangkap are especially made by Manang Mely, the Aranque Market supplier of almost all or majority of Chowking’s branches. Manang Mely is the original supplier for the Chowking Halo-Halo, and Chowking views her expertise as an asset to the company, thus, inking an exclusive contract with her.
The milk is no ordinary milk either. It is blended with 3 secret ingredients that give the Chowking Halo-Halo its distinctive taste.
I also learned from the talk of Chowking Public Relations Marlon Sison that, coincidentally, the Indonesians (Chowking has 6 branches in Indonesia) and my sister-in-law share the same preference for eating the Halo-Halo ingredients on top first before consuming the partially melted snow ice mixed with milk.
My Chowking Stand-In Since I was recovering from pharyngitis and laryngitis, the Chowking Halo-Halo was a no-no for me. So I persuaded my sister-in-law to be my Chowking stand-in by eating the Halo-Halo that’s meant for me.
It wasn’t that hard to convince her because Chowking’s Halo-halo is already her favorite. In her opinion, Chowking is the best readily available Halo-Halo, because aside from having lots of sangkap or ingredients, it is very reasonably priced.
And she is not alone. According to a Nielsen survey, Chowking is the most preferred brand among Metro Manila consumers.
A Family Affair That afternoon, aside from my sister-in-Iaw, i had in tow with me my two nephews and niece, who each received a Chowking Gift Certificate from me as a reward for accompanying me to the Chowking bloggers’ event instead of their preferred Timezone. (Since then, they have used the Chowking Gift Certificates in Chowking Baguio during a holiday.)
Moreover, my sister was also with us. And when Chowking’s Product Development Unit Ernest Concepcion noticed my “entourage,†he generously offered to give them Halo-Halo as well. But, like me, all the children were recovering from different ailments, so it was only my sister, Weng Lopez, who was able to accept the kind offer.
Thank you, Chowking, for a memorable yummy afternoon!
P.S. Free Chowking Gift Certificates I am giving away two Php 50 Chowking Gift Certificates to partially/fully fund your own Chowking Halo-Halo experience. The condition is you must blog about your Chowking Halo-Halo experience, and create a link from this post to yours.
