Marian Rivera Displays Fighting Form on Dyesebel Set
Marian Rivera Verbally Attacks The YouTube video opens with Marian Rivera saying under her breath, “Ang kapal ng mukha mo a.”
Then she strides up the stairs where the man she’s referring to is and angrily accuses him, “O, bakit ngayon ganyan ka porke maraming nanonood sa yo mabait ka?
The Background Story PEP or Philippine Entertainment Portal interviewed Marian Rivera about the incident, and this is Marian Rivera’s explanation regarding her outburst, “Nasa set kami sa Subic.
Acting Without Delay If the alleged explanation is true, then I applaud Marian Rivera’s immediate decision to act by saying something when she saw the man was taking video on the set when he wasn’t supposed to.
I also like the fact that she’s not afraid to speak out when she felt that she was being wronged. Not everyone would have been able to act firmly and decisively when faced with these circumstances.
The Use of Influential Power In my experience, Philippine sets are very sexist, where the males feel free to degrade the females, usually verbally.
There has been a shift, which I first noted when I guested on Claudine Barretto’s defunct ABS-CBN show— Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin, where I was shocked that the males were well behaved.
It’s my theory that, over the years, the Filipino female actor has been shown to be a bankable star, which has translated to films and TV series that showcase female stars, thus, changing the atmosphere on sets befitting the presence of powerful and talented females.
Frankly, if the man really did reply, “Bakit, ikaw ba ang bini-video ko? Pakialam mo,” I’m shocked that he would do so, because he knows fully well that he’s being disrespectful to one of the people who is giving GMA-7 a fighting chance to be in the industry race.
The Real Marian Rivera From an actor’s point of view, I am also pleased that Marian Rivera, the actor, may be different, as shown on the YouTube video, from the characters she plays on TV, which heightens the probability that she can really act.
Strike While The Iron Is Hot There has been allegations that GMA-7 is trying to have the YouTube video deleted. Why and what for? I say, use it, instead, to showcase Marian Rivera in a different light, like having her take on a feisty character, like what the great Nida Blanca used to star in.
