Heart’s Plea to Echo
When asked what her message is to ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales, this is what Heart Evangelista said in her StarTalk interview, “Narinig ko nung una na I broke up with you on TV tapos binawi mo. Ngayon naman, ang dami mong sinabi sa TV. All I can say is, stop it. Stop it at sawang-sawa na ako. (At first I heard you say that I broke up with you on TV, and then, you retracted your statement. And now, you’re saying so many things on TV. All I can say is, stop it. Stop it because I’m just fed up with the whole thing.)”
Loss of Joie de Vivre
There is a strong element of He Said She Said in this whole breakup scenario, but, I don’t care at this point who’s telling the truth or not. All I know is that during Heart and Echo’s three year relationship there is a notable drainage of the charming joie de vivre that endeared Heart to her audiences.
Furthermore, instead of having that added glow from being surrounded by the kind of love that is supportive and positive, Heart has increasingly become listless and reserved during her appearances. And, to top it all, Heart’s skyrocketing career almost came to a full stop during this relationship.
A loss of joie de vivre, a listless appearance, and a halted career are all signs of possible unhappiness. I’m relieved to hear Heart say on GMA-7’s Showbiz Central last 11 May 2008, “Siguro naman kailangan kong makahanap ng taong talagang mamahalin ako ng… Alam mo yun, hindi yung parang may itinatago, you know, sino ka ba talaga? Yung totoo sa sarili, maginoo, lahat-lahat. (I need to find a person who’ll really love me. Not someone who has something to hide that I end up asking, ‘Who are you really?’ I want someone who’s true to himself, a gentleman, I want everything…)”
Jericho Rosales Issues a Statement
Meanwhile, on ABS-CBN The Buzz on 18 May 2008, host Boy Abunda reads a short statement from Jericho Rosales that basically says that he will keep his peace after his televised interview from the previous week.

hay naku kung ako kay echo kalimutan nya na lang nya yang si heart wala naman syang mapapala sa heart na yan eh…ang arte-arte eh wala namang cnasabing masama sa kanya si echo…ewan ko ba dyan sa babaeng yan saan kumukuha ng kaartehan…alam mo heart kung ako sayo wag kana lang mag-artista…at tsaka wag ka ngang mag-inarte marami pang makukuhang babae si echo higit pa sayo. hindi ko nga alam kung anong nakita sayo ni echo eh samantalang ang gaganda ng mga naging ex nya,kaya pwede ba tigilan ang kaartehan hindi bagay…

you’re right with your observations. sobrang minahal lang ni Heart ang lalaking ito. Kaya kahit natuyot talaga ang naging itsura niya for three years e tiniis niya. Naging sobrang bulag sa pag-ibig. Ang hindi na-realize ni Echo ay si Heart ang klase ng babae na hindi papayag na may kahati siya sa pag-ibig. The only mistake she did is to allow Echo to scream at her every time they fight. Dapat hiniwalayan na niya sa simula pa lang. No wonder she saw red when she finally saw those interviews of the guy. Sabi niya sa Startalk last Saturday, the guy doesn’t talk like that when it’s just the two of them. Correction lang nga pala. That May 17 interview wasn’t a phone patch. Startalk went to Dubai and interviewed her. Kitang-kita mo sa eyes niya how this guy has deeply hurt and betrayed her trust. Nasayang ang three years ni Heart. But it’s okay. She’s now a better person who has become closer to God.

I find the comments far more interesting than the actual goings on between the two actors. The first guy is all macho with the idea that there are more girls out there for the guy to use up, while the second commenter (who might be a girl based on the name) seems to be attacking heart and downplaying her side of things. Very catty.
