Starbucks Philippines Offers Php 40 Savings on Earth Day

Starbucks LogoTomorrow, 22 April 2008, is Earth Day. Starbucks Philippines is joining the cause for Mother Earth by offering a Php 40 discount if you bring your own tumbler or mug while buying a hot or cold Starbucks beverage. For your safety, please be reminded that only properly insulated tumblers and mugs for hot and cold drinks are recommended for this promo.

If you wish to continue the practice of being more environmentally conscious, Starbucks offers other ways you can contribute while enjoying some savings.

Invest in a Starbucks Travel Mug If you invest in a Starbucks travel mug and use this for your future orders of your favored drink, the Starbucks barrista will knock off Php 5 from your bill.

Request Your Drink in a Starbucks Mug If you’re going to stay within the Starbucks premises, you may request the Starbucks barrista to pour your beverage into a Starbucks ceramic mug. And, instead of using paper cups, you may also request for a mug when you wish to drink some water.

Request for a Teaspoon You may also request for a teaspoon from the Starbucks barrista so there will be no need to get a plastic stirrer.

Get Only Enough Tissues Be more discriminate when pulling out tissues from the dispenser. Try to limit yourself to a couple of tissues. (When I went to Starbucks Araneta Center yesterday, 20 April 2008, the tissue dispenser was gone. One has to request the tissues from the Starbucks barrista. I wonder if it’s the same for other Starbucks branches.)

The other Starbucks branches I frequent leave their napkin dispenser and milk stuff on the counter. I guess there aren’t many thieves in these branches I go to. :p

I have been a coffee drinker even before Starbucks came to the Philippines. However, in the US where I go at least once a year, I frequent a Starbucks store daily. I have always ordered cafe mocha but in the past year or so, I have noticed how bad it tastes now. I have complained again and again to the stores concerned and it seems nothing has been done about their tasteless coffee now.

In fact, just yesterday, I was at the Clark branch and I was able to drink only 1/4 of my cafe mocha which tasted more like water with a little mocha mix. I made my companion taste it, and he said its the worst he has tasted in coffee. didn’t complain anymore because I think, when Starbucks can cater to the Frappuccino drinkers, the coffee drinkers can’t say much anymore.

I frequent the Greenhills branches, some personally know me and have complained about the taste of their coffee (which is more water than coffee), have tried shifting to machiatto and it’s the same. I was informed that they now have a different machine of dispensing their coffee. And I told them that considering they probably have tasted their coffee, without the additional this and that, shouldn’t they adjust their coffee measurement to make it taste more like coffee?

And the coffee isn’t cheap and I have tasted better but I have stayed and been loyal to Starbucks since day 1. I get 5-6 planners when they start that promotion. And everyone asks for these planners from me, expecting me to finish filling up their cards. But if it doesn’t improve, then I don’t think I like to continue paying for coffee that tastes like water. I cannot even compare the cafe mocha that I kept ordering when I was in the US last March because it is no comparison, sad to say.

Thank you for having this chance to say my experience with Starbucks.

    PS
Their green tea latte has now been tasteless too. So, what’s happening? Are they scrimping on the ingredients and we have to pay their price?

    Hi Nini,

I’d like to forward your comment to Starbucks management. May I also let them know your email address?

    Thank you,
    Lorna
