I loved you in Dirty Dancing. That was the first time I admired latin dance. You inspired me to take lessons. For years I’ve performed all types of Latin dance as well as Jazz & the Swing. Unfortunately, I could never find a dance partner to perform with and never had a great instructor to teach more advance moves. I was too ahead of the game. so I quit. You and your wife are so lucky to have been married for so long & to have become dance partners. That’s rare. I’m so hurt to hear about your cancer. I hope you’ll be with us for a very long time. Come to Natchez, Ms. to see your where your long gone relatives are- they are buried in the Kingston Cemetery- I spend a lot of time there- love being out in the country where it is. Also, your distant relatives live here- they are friends of mine. This is a beautiful area, filled with history- would love to have you come and connect with family again. Cancer, particularly stage 4, is a very tough diagnosis. There’s always a chance…either you’re the one that the treatments work on, or that the diagnosis was a mistake, or whatever. Let’s say you’re the lucky one…and 10 years from now you’re lookin’ back at what you’re going through. What would you say to yourself?
And if you aren’t the lucky one…would your advice to yourself change?
Your family and friends will appreciate the good times they’re having with you, and will have with you. If that lasts 2 more years, or 20 more years, it’s worth it.
They say to think of it in terms of just another chronic ailment, like asthma or diabetes. It may be what kills your, or you may die of something entirely different…it’d be a shame to be miserable, in fear of what the cancer may do to you, only to choke on a meatball.

Pancreas cancer
Locate a port cath in the axillary cavity from where a catheter reaches the jejune-pancreatic artery.
Administer 400-500 ml 5% sodium bicarbonate every day, 6 days on 6 days off for 4 cycles.
Then CAT Scan.
Ten days break then repeat the cycle, 6 days on 10 days off
Side effects: bruise and infection in the arm; fever, tiredness, thirst, pain.

Please know that our prayers and hopes are with you and I believe that with a spirit like yours you will beat this beast. I would not waste any time looking at the negative things that people are wasting there time writing to make you nervous. When I heard you had cancer, I was not surprised by your continued survival. I have recently gone through my own journey with kidney cancer and can truly appreciate where you are coming from. I watched you on TV tonight. I have an urge to tell you something that I believe will help.
Please take your time out and go to Lourdes in France for at least two weeks. Go to bath everyday; attend the rosary everynight; attend the Holy Eucharist everyday. Sit by the statute of Mother Mary everyday and talk to her. If you have done some good things (without fame,) tell her. Pray to the Heavenly Father, Jesus and Mother Mary to cure you. Have faith that Mother Mary will intervene on your behalf, and will ask God or she will exercise her discretion to cure you. It works… believe me, it will work on you too. Good luck. Theresa

The Love you had, and have for your Dad impressed me.
I’m paralyzed, and I’ve been through things that most people will never understand…like spending 20 hours on a toilet, and then pooping your pants…when you finally get to go to Safeway.
But I Loved my Dad, and I would have gladly suffered everything I’ve been through, if I could have had 10 more years with him.
He was the only friend I’ve ever had, and he was also the only man I’ve ever admired, respected, and wanted to be like.
When I had my accident, the doctor told me that I only had 3mm left of my spinal cord and there was no hope of me ever getting anything back ever…but so far I’ve managed to get my right leg working and am still working on the other things.
You have the most important thing there is in life…Love.
When I had my accident, I’d just lost my Dad to esophageal cancer, my wife had been sleeping on the couch since the night I found out about his cancer, and my business of more than 20 years was history, everything I’d lived for was lost, but my greatest loss, was the Love of my Dad.
I only saw the ending of the Barbara Walters interview with you, but what struck me was that you Loved your Dad.
I have no friends, I have no family, but I still have my heart, and my spirit.

My name is Deborah I am 42 years old up until recently I was quite poorly with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I had tried all the old and new treaments including the latest TNF very expensive treatments to no avail, I was then as a last resort given the new treatment Mabthera, it didn’t work I was in agony but told there was currently no more treatment available, at this stage I was struggling to dress myself, mobility was poor even lifting a cup was painful.

Main reason for my e-mail, saw you yesterday on ABC with Barbara – I liked you comment about “not chasing living” your too busy living. I agree with you 100%, but if you are not taking whey protein concentrate during treatment … you should be!!! It has to do with glutathione levels being higher in cancer cells that healthy cells, which makes the cancer cells “big and strong”. The whey protein changes that equation in your favor. I sell 10 Million pounds/year in my business. If you want it, I would be happy to send you as much as you can stomach. Hi Patrick, I’m sorry to hear about your cancer. But there is a way to get rid of it, and it’s not in this country. All you have to do is go to Germany and there is five places there that will treat you by increasing your body temperature in the areas where your cancer is located to about 107 degrees at that temperature cancer cells can’t survive but normal cells are not damaged. The whole procedure takes about one month. I heard that when Ronald Reagan was president he went there in secret and got rid of a cancer that he had. You can Google this treatment and there you will find out all you need to know including a book you can buy describing the procedure ( my son-in-law in Florida has this book). I pray your faith in God will see you and your family through with good results. NEVER EVER lose faith and keep fighting the demon. My husband just passed away on 12/2 from a year long battle with advanced unusually aggressive colon cancer caused by airborne toxics making treatment very difficult. You know, my husband was more worried about my daughter and I but I hope I convinced him we will be fine. I know you probably do to but you have to get past that and concentrate on that positive attitude and getting better. I had 50 NYPD brothers and sisters at bedside and 300 out the door who also supported us all year.
Your family will always be there for you as you will for them. As I know he is always here with me. My husband found strength through prayer and his closeness with God this past year and I know he was very scared…but he was SO very brave. You are a warrior too. So don’t ever give up. I quit my job to be with him every day the last 7 months to fight side by side with him and find the best treatments. His huge support system, his hope and extremely positive attitude kept him with me much longer than anyone expected. I’m praying you will pull through this, and don’t lose hope.

I went thru 2 major brian surgeries, one in 1994 and agian in 1998, i went thru 8 weeks of intense radiation therapy and YEARS of recovery. After all this hell i went thru and people telling me what i CAN’T DO..i bounced back & I beat the odds. ALL my doctors told me that i would be disabled & could never work & support myself agian. Man, lol..they couldn’t have been more wrong.

Do not give up! Miracles happen every day. I am a believer of that. In 1999 my mother was diagnosed with TTP caused from complications of E. coli. She had 2 heart attacks, 2 strokes and was in a coma for 2 ½ months. Her kidneys were completely shut down and Dialysis was her treatment plan. Only way off was thru a transplant. Then the worst came to us and the Neurologist called a meeting about her EEG results and since she was in a coma there was no asking her anything. Her choice of words and her medical diagnosis was cold and very hard to take. Mother’s brain was shut down. Nothing going on upstairs. The Dr didn’t expect her to live past noon that day. So with the family together we were by her side for her final moments.
To make a long story short it was a Miracle that happened that night, and thru Gods grace my mother woke up from her coma and shocked the hospital. I was there and I witnessed a miracle.

Educate yourself on Healing Sugars.
They are the only cure for your cancer. Chemo and traditional treatments on extend your time, they do not cure.

I think the most important part of getting well is belief and the absolute will to survive.
I have Leukemia/Lymphoma and have faced this battle now for almost three years. I was on a respirator for months and had more CT’s than I care to remember. I know the pain and that constant fear we live with that the dragon will return just when everything is wonderful.
The pneumonia is a setback for certain. I had it twice after chemo/radiation rounds. You will get better and you will be even more determined to resume your life.
One of the things that my doctors told me is I did so well because as a former dancer…I took care of my body just as you always have. It matters greatly.
Hang in there, Patrick. You’re in my thoughts and I can’t wait to hear the news that you are once again well, and in remission. There is a lot of excitement right now in oncology due to the different treatments and medications towards the war on cancer that are surprising many.

(PHILADELPHIA) – An herb used in traditional medicine by many Middle Eastern countries may help in the fight against pancreatic cancer, one of the most difficult cancers to treat. Researchers at the Kimmel Cancer at Jefferson in Philadelphia have found that thymoquinone, an extract of Nigella sativa seed oil, blocked pancreatic cancer cell growth and killed the cells by enhancing the process of programmed cell death.
While the studies are in the early stages, the findings suggest that thymoquinone could eventually have some use as a preventative strategy in patients who have gone through surgery and chemotherapy or in individuals who are at a high risk of developing cancer.

According to Hwyda Arafat, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Nigella sativa helps treat a broad array of diseases, including some immune and inflammatory disorders. Previous studies also have shown anticancer activity in prostate and colon cancers, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Using a human pancreatic cancer cell line, she and her team found that adding thymoquinone killed approximately 80 percent of the cancer cells. They demonstrated that thymoquinone triggered programmed cell death in the cells, and that a number of important genes, including p53, Bax, bcl-2 and p21, were affected. The researchers found that expression of p53, a tumor suppressor gene, and Bax, a gene that promotes programmed cell death, was increased, while bcl-2, which blocks such cell death, was decreased. The p21 gene, which is involved in the regulation of different phases of the cell cycle, was substantially increased. She presents her findings May 18 at the Digestive Disease Week in San Diego.
Dr. Arafat and her co-workers also found that thymoquinone caused “epigenetic” changes in pancreatic cancer cells, modifying the cells’ DNA. She explains that these changes involve adding acetyl groups to the DNA structure, specifically to blocks of proteins called histones. This “acetylation” process can be important for genes to be read and translated into proteins. In this case, it could involve the genes that are key to initiating programmed cell death. “We looked at the status of the histones and found surprisingly that thymoquinone increased the acetylation process,” Dr. Arafat says. “We never anticipated that.”
At the same time, adding thymoquinone to pancreatic cancer cells reduced the production and activity of enzymes called histone deacetylases (HDACs), which remove the acetyl groups from the histone proteins, halting the gene transcription process. Dr. Arafat notes that HDAC inhibitors are a “hot” new class of drugs that interfere with the function of histone deacetylases, and is being studied as a treatment for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Finding that thymoquinone functions as an HDAC inhibitor, she says, “was very remarkable and really exciting.”
Pancreatic cancer, the fourth-leading cause of cancer death in this country, takes some 34,000 lives a year. The disease frequently is detected after it has spread and only 4 percent of individuals with pancreatic cancer live for five years after diagnosis.

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. I underwent 12 chemotherapy treatments but found out that the chemotherapy didn’t finish the job! My doctors wanted me to proceed with more chemotherapy – even more toxic this time, and a stem cell transplant – I didn’t want to feel that sick again (or worse) so I was a little hesitant and convinced the doctors to give me a little time to decide what to do.
I went to a naturopath who gave me 2 books – ‘The Swiss Miracle’ by Dr. Thomas Rau and ‘Healing Cancer Gently’ by Bill Henderson. I implemented the diet in the swiss miracle and began the ‘what I would do if I were you’ in chapter 5 of ‘healing cancer gently’. 6 months later I have just found out that my cancer is completey gone!
Doctors of course have no explanation! I know you have found your treatment ‘hell’ and although I am not going to tell you changing how you eat etc. it easy – it’s definitely better than the alternatives! Please try it or, at least read them – there are very compelling testimonials (including from people with the same cancer you have) that these things work and now I can count myself among them!

Please look into The Budwig Diet- it offers genuine hope to people living with any stage of cancer-I first discovered it when a family member became ‘terminally’ ill with cancer.
In the end he didn’t try the Budwig diet, but we have been feeding the cottage cheese/flax oil to our family dog who had cushins disease (equivalent to Addissons disease in humans) and she has since become the healthiest we have seen her in a very long time. I took her to the vet myself to check on her progress and the vet said that it was an act of god that she was still alive. If we hadn’t given her the diet I have no doubt in my mind that she would have died years ago in pain and before her time. She has to take enzymes and insulin, but this has bought her quality time in her life. I wish you would check into this type of surgery.

Cancer Update from John Hopkins
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime
3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
A. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
B. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.
C. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
D. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains,seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
E. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.Don’t freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.
Paper isn’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper. It’s just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

I pray for you every day. My heart just broke when I heard but not near as much as your wife’s. I’m 53 years old now and found my soul mate just as you did but in 2001. Then in 2006, I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer that spread into my ribs and as of a month ago, it spread to my liver and 2 of my lymph nodes as well as possibly my chest and stomach. My brother in 1999, who was 36, passed away from pancreatic cancer after being diagnosed 6 months prior. But he didn’t take chemo or radiation. Just to give you a little hope now….. my dad had stomach cancer when I was 3 was told he only had just a few months to live……he is now 77 years old. I think GOD decides when its time. As long as we keep fighting and keep as active as we can, we could live a good life and appriciate it more. I have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and my soul mate….. I went and got him in the UK. We met on the internet and he looks EXACTLY like Eric Clapton. Great huh? He left his whole family to come back to the states to care for me here so I can be near my family. That was hard since I’ve grown quite fond of his kids and family as well. Patrick, I know you’re in pain. My brother Steven Cadenhead told me it feels like a very tight belt sqeesing from the inside but he loved life. He smoked too and said the same thing you did. “No point in quiting now, its done with. I loved so much and talk to him often and it still hurts. After he died, I could swear he touched my shoulder when no one was around. I know he was there behind me. I really feel now, that you’ll be there to comfort your wife as well. PLEASE hang on as long as you can.

I hope you read these posts or somehow they arrive to you, as my (and other) message(s) might help you defeat the cancer.
I grew up following your steps from “Dirty Dancing” and those days are still alive in my memory.
On your turn, now maybe it is worth following a vegetarian diet (if not already) as a better fight against the cancer than the treatments you’ve been undergoing up to now, so read as quick as you can the “THE CHINA STUDY” book, discuss with the author Dr. Campbell, whose tens of years of research and direct studies on millions of people (so not only on animals or in lab with substances etc) showed stunning effects of vegetarian diet on cancer, heart diseases etc, not only stopping the progress of the illness but even reversing the effects!

I was at a grocery store and the National Enquirer was staring at me. In particular the article on you. How you have given up on life. And are leaving happily. But I don’t think you should give up yet. There is a practice in Yoga that you must try. Don’t give up. Cancer is not the end of the world.
It CAN be healed. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU SHOULD DO IS ALWAYS BE IN JOYFUL MOOD EVERY DAY, EVERY NIGHT (Please watch the film THE SECRET to be convinced of that). I would advise you to go to nature and stay there for a month or two. Stop making films for a while. Become a vegan and practice yoga.

Just returned from the grocery story where I saw the pathetic headlines of the tabloid magazines concerning a heart attack. Pathetic, aren’t they. Those people should be #%@!%#%#$%! When I was very young, ‘Ghost’ became one of my favourite movies and remains so today. I just wanted to say that your courage is an inspiration to us all to live each day to the fullest. I can only imagine how difficult this time period is for you and yet, you continue to have a smile on your face. You truly are one of a kind. Please get close to Jesus Christ and get to know him he’s a great friend the best friend you could ever have he is there for us if you just believe and call upon his name. He can even heal you. I’ve seen people healed by our great Jesus. HE can make your load lighter just turn it over to him and please get close to him. I know you have had hundreds of emails and mine is not unique. I am 46 and have been a fan of yours for 27 yrs. I have had a poster of you on my bedroom wall for 26 or 27 yrs. I carried it everywhere that I moved. I have seen all of your movies and when my daughter turned 16, I introduced her to dirty dancing. She did not want to see an “old” movie. But I talked her into seeing it and its her all time favorite. she is now 20 and has watched the movie over 30 times. I am sure that I have seen it over 50.
I know that there is no way to contact you where you can contact me back and I realize you get many emails a day. I hope that you are taking into account all the natural herbal theropies that are available. I know if I were in your position, I would have already done my research. I am a big supporter of natural therapy, because I have seen it work.

I want to wish you and your wife all the best. We went to high school at Waltrip.My husband was ill with pancreatic cancer. He has been gone for 3 years now. It was devastating to the family. I am always glad to hear any news about you and to see pictures. My husband was 53 years old. We were married for 33 years and had 5 children. We still had two teenage boys at home at the time of is death. They are still dealing with their feelings. I went with him to all of his treatments at MD Anderson. They were so nice there. He tried all of the new experimental treatments, but his body could not stand up to them because he was too weak. We even flew in a specialist from Oklahoma and tried the black salve. I think if we had done that earlier when his body wasn’t so weak it would have helped. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. I have followed you through out your career.I got into to trouble at my job at Temple Oaks Baptist
School because I invited my daughter’s teacher,who was also my friend, over to watch Dirty Dancing with me. Somehow it got out to the other students that she was coming over. We got a call from the principle that evening telling us that she did not think that we should watch the movie. We laughed and decided to watch it st another time so we wouldn’t upset the principle.I always respected the fact that you and your lovely wife stayed together. I still remember the talent show that you sang in at Waltrip. You sang The Stranger in the Black Sedan and all the girls went wild. Keep up the faith and stay strong.

First let me wish you luck on your fight against your cancer. My mother is also stricken with cancer and her condition continues to grow worse everyday. She recently read an article about you and what you have been doing to fight this daises. It said something about a special diet, and some other things you have been doing that according to the article have been working very well for you. I’ll just say that God told me to intercede in prayer for you Patrick. I don’t know if you are a christian or not, but I believe in the power of prayer. UNFORTUNATELY most of society is kept in the dark about real healings from many types of cancel in this country. IF anyone truley can contact Patrick directly, please have Patrick drink organic wheatgrass juice for 1 month. I went through chemotherapy for my liver in 2006. I am healed thanks to my Christian belief and Grace from God. I did what the doctors wanted along with what I read in the Bible about taking care of our bodies. I did find Barley Life at Hills Christian Store in Henderson North Carolina and I did drink it every day along with taking Okinawa Chlorella Tabs my husband got from a herbal store in Westwood New Jersey. I ate a lot of Dandelion Root Salads…Oh and plenty of Milk Thistle. Sounds wacky however we have to give our bodies a fighting chance. I am not a huge movie star follower however I do want you to get better and accomplish more before you go. Everyone says I should write a book about my life as crazy at it has been and I had a dream you stared in the movie as my husband (a wonderful man I might add) so if the movie ever actually is made you’ll need to be here to star in it. I do lift a prayer for you and your family as Cancer is a family dis-ease not just a personal issue as you would think before the family gets it.
