West Side Story Manila Audition Tips

Update: There will be Dance Auditions on 27 April 2008.

Musical Theatre Actors Needed Except for the role of Tony, which will be played by pop singing sensation Christian Bautista, all roles are open for audition, such as the female lead Maria and the supporting cast roles of Riff, Bernardo and Anita, as well as a strong singing and dancing ensemble cast.

Maria must be pretty and slim. She has to be a soprano 1, preferably
with classical or musical theater voice training.

Anita must be a strong dancer and an alto with impressive acting
skills. Bernardo must also be a strong dancer and actor. Riff must be
mestizo with strong dancing and gymnastic background.

The rest of the cast should be a mix of mestizo and Pinoy-looking
actors. They must be strong dancers who can sing, preferably with
jazz, ballet or hip-hop background.

Requirements Age Requirement: 17-30yo. Bring a 3R colored photo, resume and minus-one CD to the auditions.

Note: Mabini St. is accessible via Shaw Blvd. It is a ONE WAY street from Shaw Blvd. all the way to Wilson St. It would be best to take a cab. There are very limited parking spaces.

Watch West Side Story on DVD, VCD or YouTube.
For your audition song, try to pick one from West Side Story or any musical theatre show.
Take dance classes, even two weeks will help.
Arrive early during the auditions.
Bring water because it’s very hot at Stand Studio.
