Nail Challenged

The period after having had your nails done is a dangerous time when you become nail challenged, meaning you’re impaired with hand related activities since the layers of nail enamel haven’t set and dried totally, so you want to avoid any contact or pressure on your nail beds.

Since I decided that my nails had to be in theme for the preview and opening night of Avenue Q today, 14 December 2007, at 2pm and 8pm respectively, the simplest tasks last night became challenging as I was in the nail salon and as I made my way home.

Opening the Zipper Even while I was in the nail salon I already struggled to pull the zipper on my belt bag with my finger pads. I finally had to ask the nail technician to do it for me since we were in the middle of the nail art printing process.

Holding the Phone With the zipper open, I could push out my phone, but, I had to swish all my hair to the left side as I held the phone to my right ear so that none of the strands will leave linear indentations on the nail art.

Opening the FX Door Thank goodness someone was alighting, so all I needed to do was to close the door.

Getting Bills and Coins I gave up on inserting my fingers into the pocket to get the coins. It was just too risky. Instead of my usual MO of paying the exact amount for transportation, I used paper bills. The change was in coins but I could just drop them into the belt bag pocket.

Shampooing and Conditioning Hair Realizing I couldn’t shampoo and condition my hair, I went to a nearby salon and had the salon technician do it for me.

Washing Dishes The couple of dishes in the sink will have to wait.

Washing Clothes So will the clothes in the hamper.
