Chuckles — SpongeBob SquarePants & Cinderella
Spying the familiar grinning yellow face on the strap of a Crocs sandal on 22 November 2007 made me exclaim, “SpongeBob!” So I asked the Crocs salesperson eagerly, “Are there sizes for adults?”
The Crocs Store salesperson at the Mall of Asia replied in the negative so I inquired hopefully, “What’s the biggest size for kids?”
The largest size turned out to be Size 5, and, even though they were obviously not meant for my bigger feet, I requested for a pair and jammed my feet excitedly into the blue Crocs.
The Crocs are so cute with the jellyfish floating among the sea bubbles! Time to go jelly fishing with SpongeBob! But barnacles! I can’t buy them!
So I sent a hint via SMS to Ana Pulido, the Marketing & Communications Manager of Nickelodeon Asia, “If Nickelodeon had adult sized SpongeBob Crocs made, I’m sure a lot of people will buy them.”
And then, remembering the Brothers Grimm version of the Cinderella fairytale where Cinderella’s stepsisters mutilated their feet to fit into Cinderella’s shoe, I added, “Contemplating cutting off my toes now. Hehe…”
