What to Expect from a Dr. Delfin Tan Consultation

Loss of Privacy When my friend and I went to visit Dr. Delfin Tan’s office at the United Doctors Medical Center in Quezon City last October 2007, we were a bit disconcerted to find that another patient was in consultation with his assistant, who happened to be sharing the same desk where he was.

Nevertheless, we proceeded with the consultation with Dr. Delfin Tan, one of the leading ob-gyn doctors in the Philippines, and a proponent of the groundbreaking hysteroscopy procedure in the country, while trying not to hear the other ongoing conversation with great difficulty.

The pinnacle of the circus like atmosphere was when Dr. Delfin Tan had to converse with a patient on the phone, and then my friend and I talked under our breath about what was discussed, while another patient was having a consultation with the assistant, and another couple conferred on what they were going to do as they waited for some supplies from the assistant.

The tail end of the consultation had us waiting for the bill inside the room while the next patient started with her consultation, which resulted with us becoming unwitting witnesses to a partial recitation of her medical history.

No Nonsense Approach Dr. Delfin Tan will not do the proverbial hold your hand approach. He has a no nonsense and let’s go straight to the point and let’s not dilly dally here approach.

Not that he’s unsympathetic, but he would rather discuss your case and the resulting options.

Surprising Facts It was really cool to watch an actual hysteroscopy of a polyp removal in the uterus from a computer, a process wherein a telescope is inserted into the uterus, allowing the doctor to perform the procedure without cutting up the patient. Fascinatingly enough, the polyp removal reminded me of slicing mushrooms.

We were also surprised to find out that the best hysteroscopy equipment in the Philippines can be found in the United Doctors Medical Center, which is maintained diligently by the doctors themselves to ensure its maximum capacity.

Hi I’ve read all your comments regrading Dr. Delfin Tan I am a patient of Dr. Tan since 1995 and all I can say is that He’s The BEST OB GYNE I’ve ever known. I was diagnosed by him having endometriosis stage 4 and he was honest enough to tell me that i have a very low chances of having a child.

last 2001 I was bleeding (heavy) since i was living at Laguna and UDMC is at Qcity I tried going to a different OB GYNE frome Perpetual Binan. unfortunately I was in and out of the hospital fot 3 mths i undergo D&C (raspa) but still the bleeding continues until that OB GYne told me that she does’nt know what to do with regards to my situation (grrrrrr) so I decided to go back to Dr. Tan and he just gave me a pill and after that my bleeding for 3mths stopped! He said that it was just Hormonal Balance.

after that I never tried going to other OB Gyne except for Dr. Tan who I will always trust. I just hope he will not retire soon because you can’t find a GOOD,Honest DOctor like him

Dr Delfin was my obgyne 6 years ago. I was only 18 back then , he made me surpass all problems i had when i was about to give birth. He also help me giving birth to my 2nd child , and the nice thing is Dra.Pacita Tan (his wife) who attended the pediatric care to my small ones is just a chair away from him. It’s a big help for me to have two doctors at one space to seek medical care.

my mom’s o.b. was dr. tan. He delivered us 3 by CS at UDMC (20 yrs ago). so when i got pregnant siya na rin kinuha ko. UDMC clinic sobrang rambol sometimes sabay2 sila magclinic ng wife nia (pedia)and her daughter (also OB). better go sa ST. Lukes. konting difference lang sa fee. expect that he’s always LATE and assistants nia mag check sau since he’s always out of the country. he’s stiff and straight to the point. won’t care about ur reasons. but he’s really a good doctor.

I wonder why was he scrimping on the desk if he was a top OB? The assistant is also a licensed OB with his own patients? Wish you had a photo of this unique clinic arrangement… lol
