Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia Opening

Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia EntranceI chanced on the soft opening of Fitness First Philippines in the Mall of Asia on 12 October 2007 when I saw an ongoing demo of a couple of Fitness First instructors in the centermost building. There was a short walk involved because the gym is located in the most northern section of the Mall of Asia called One ECom Building where you will see the entrance with treated windows having several figures doing, I guess, Body Pump.

Body and Mind Studio Only the first level is operational, the most notable of which is a triple or quadruple sized version of the Fitness First North EDSA Body and Mind Studio. However, the design is still bare so I have no idea if they’re going to spruce it up with stones and more Asian touches.

GX Studio The GX Studio is also notable for its length and height, though its structure diminishes the acoustics. The music and its beat are not so clear within its cavernous frame when I attended the very first Body Jam class in Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia

Loss of Globe Signal You have to scout around the gym for a good signal from Globe, especially in the GX Studio. I had to walk towards the entrance before my message was sent.

Members Lounge The Fitness First MOA lounge is even more cramped than Fitness First RSC Makati.

Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia Alarmed LockersAlarmed Lockers The unique feature of Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia are its alarmed lockers. Members have to exchange their Fitness First IDs for a special plastic ID lock that works with the alarmed lockers.

How does it work? After leaving your belongings inside the locker, push the locker door until it’s level with the doorframe. Once you see a red dot flashing in the locker door number, align the ID lock with it. You will hear a distinctive click to indicate it’s locked.

To open, just align the ID lock again with the red dot. The door will automatically open.

Cement Dust and Fumes Due to its ongoing construction, Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia still has cement dust and fumes from the materials being used. If you have any respiratory condition like asthma, it would be best to delay visiting this particular Fitness First branch.

Fitness First Philippines Mall of Asia Free Weights AreaFitness First Philippines Mall of Asia Sea View The second level Free Weights room has the best sea view, albeit quite limited.

I was hoping the cycling room would be overlooking the sea, but no such luck :-(

Overall Assessment Fitness First Philippines in the Mall of Asia would be a good choice when doing Body Balance, Pilates or Yoga because of the sheer size of the Body and Mind Studio. Cycling, GX classes and cardiovascular machines would also be fine. But if you’re intending to use the machines for your muscle workout, I’d think twice because of the cramped conditions.
