National Bookstore & Broken Merchandise (Eye)
I broke the merchandise last night at 01 October 2007. It did occur to me to just put it back on the shelf and not say anything. However, knowing my own nature, I would probably have Lady Macbeth moments of “Out damned spot” that would trouble me incessantly.
So, I requested the National Bookstore saleslady if I could speak with the manager.
I told Mrs. Ocampo, the National Bookstore Ali Mall manager, how I was slipping the calling card case back into its box when it slid right through and crashed to the floor, causing the plastic cover to crack.
Mrs. Ocampo said that usually such broken items will be charged to the customer. Then she asked for more details about the incident, and I explained that I did the very same action to the previous calling card case that I inspected. However, that box proved to be sturdier and did not give way like the second box.
Mrs. Ocampo generously decided that National Bookstore was partially at fault by not putting tape on one end of the second box, and did not require me to pay for the cracked calling card case.
Thank you very much Mrs. Ocampo of National Bookstore Ali Mall Araneta Center!
