ABS-CBN Lastikman — On the Set Musings
I first learned of Lastikman a couple of days ago when I was asked to play the role of the dean in the ABS-CBN series. Quietly sitting in my chair in between takes on 27 September 2007 found me either memorizing my lines, napping or being a silent observer.
It was pleasant to note when Vhong Navarro made self deprecating remarks about his appearance while watching himself in the Lastikman series, showing that he can poke fun at himself.
Vhong Navarro reminds me of Jim Carrey in the sense that when both actors are not contorting their faces, their relaxed features make for a pleasing countenance, in short, they look cute.
Iya Villania does not eat pork but allows herself to enjoy the occasional sundae.
Iya Villania is a very helpful and down to earth creature, and not afraid to get her hands dirty like when looking for an electric socket for a mini-TV.
Most of the young set of actors amuse themselves by watching videos or listening to music while waiting for their turn.
Zsa zsa Padilla is even more beautiful now than when I first had to co-act with her about 4-5 years ago in a defunct ABS-CBN series, the title of which I’ve forgotten already. All I remember is that I played the head nurse in a mental health institution, and Zsa Zsa Padilla was looking for a relative of hers.
Direk Jerome Pobocan of Lastikman is very detailed with the reactions that he wants to elicit from his actors, even demonstrating what he desires.
According to ABS-CBN News, “Vhong Navarro’s costars in the show include Cherie Gil, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Dawn Zulueta, John Estrada, Carmi Martin, Jomari Yllana, Sunshine Cruz, Ian Veneracion, Jayson Gainza, James Blanco and a host of other luminaries.â€
Lastikman made its debut on Philippine television last 24 September 2007 on the ABS-CBN channel.

Sorry, Angel, I have no idea when my sequences are going to appear. It’s just a couple so both will probably be in one episode, two at the most. Although there’s talk of other tapings, script changes may mean those two sequences will be my only appearances, if they’re not edited out in the first place

Haven’t had the chance to watch Lastikman just yet but will probably try to catch it one of these days to see the dean. =) How long will you be appearing?
