Intellectual Property Rights Seminar from the Network for Enterprising Women

(From L) Carrie Rabat, Bianca Lawas, Myren Garcia, Christine Llenes, Atty. Abigail Serrano and Lorna Lopez (me)Another rainy Saturday afternoon, this time on 29 September 2007, saw me at The Coffee Experience listening raptly to the fascinating facts spouted by Atty. Abigail Serrano of the law firm Villaraza & Angangco regarding copyrights, patents, trademarks, tradenames and trade secrets.

Due to being a director and a writer, the Intellectual Property Rights Seminar from the organization of Network for Enterprising Women or N.E.W! is of utmost importance to me. And, may I take this opportunity to thank the other seminar participants, namely, Carrie Rabat, Bianca Lawas, Myren Garcia and Christine Llenes for their patience when I inundated the discussion with my questions.

Also, I would like to thank N.E.W! for organizing such invaluable seminars that allow participants to increase their knowledge through experts in their respective fields.

Barely a year old, founder Myren Garcia explained, “N.E.W! is a group of women whose advocacy is to create an environment where there is an exchange of business ideas, sharing of experience, and opportunity to network.”

From the first tax seminar I attended, headed by Atty. Rachel Follosco of Follosco Morallos & Herce law firm, the opportunity to network was presented through another seminar participant, Janette Mendoza, who paved the way for the presence of MyDestiny Cable Internet in the very first project of my events business White Crane Entertainment — the Spread the Fuzz on Avenue Q Manila show.

Although the Intellectual Property Rights Seminar is only my second with N.E.W! I have found that aside from the seminar itself, it is empowering to be in the company of women who are entrepreneurs themselves.

The next N.E.W! seminar will be on Saturday 06 October 2007. The seminar will be about Investing in Stock Markets, and is geared towards individuals with minimal or no experience in the stock market.

The Stock Market seminar will be held at The Coffee Experience, G/F Strata 2000 Bldg, F. Ortigas Jr. Road (formerly Emerald Avenue), Ortigas Center, Pasig City from 9am-12nn. Seminar fees are Php 200 for members and Php 250 for non-members.

For reservations or further inquiries, please contact Myren Garcia at 0917.5408697, e-mail at newomen@gmail.com or go to the N.E.W! website
