Gantimpala Theater Pearl Festival with Bienvenido Noriega Jr. Play

I was floored with the brilliance of the play Batang Pro and avidly searched for the playwright’s name. Since then, the name of Bienvenido Noriega Jr. was burned into my brain.

I was fortunate to quietly observe the late Bienvenido Noriega Jr. when I worked with Dramatis Personae, and marveled that this usually silent self-effacing man wearing a Barong Tagalog and goes to work as an Executive Vice President in a bank found the time to create so many exceptional plays that were recognized by award giving bodies such as the Palanca Awards.

Another such award giving body is the annual CCP Playwriting Contest where Bienvenido Noriega Jr.’s Ramona Reyes ng Forbes Park won second prize in 1976.

Ramona Reyes ng Forbes Park was a milestone production for Gantimpala Theater, and is part of Gantimpala Theater’s celebration of its 30 years of being a major contributor to the development of Philippine dramaturgy, hence, the Gantimpala Theater Pearl Festival.

Ramona Reyes ng Forbes Park is slated on 09 September 2007 at 7pm at the Concert at the Park Open Air Auditorium in Luneta Manila. Admission is FREE!
