Avenue Q Manila The Asian Premiere

Avenue Q Manila Cast

Asian Premiere The Tony award winner for Best Musical in 2004 will make its Asian premiere in Manila courtesy of Atlantis Productions, the same outfit that has brought award winning musicals such as Rent, Urinetown and Dreamgirls to Manila.

“We asked.” Currently, the rights to stage Avenue Q are unavailable, so we asked co-director Chari Arespacochaga how did Atlantis Productions manage the difficult task.

Her simple reply, “We asked.”

To be granted the Avenue Q rights can only be a testament of the good standing of Atlantis Productions within the international theatre community after just starting negotiations last year.

Broadway, West End and the North American Tour According to Wikipedia, the Tony award winning musical started Off Broadway in 2003, moved to Broadway in 2004, and was soon being performed exclusively in Las Vegas in 2005, aside from its Broadway counterpart.

The London show had its debut in 2006 while the North American tour opened in San Diego California on 30 June 2007.

Avenue Q Manila Avenue Q Manila will begin its run on 07 September 2007 at the Carlos P. Auditorium in RCBC Plaza Makati Philippines.

Can I interview you and the guy who made the puppets on the 6th during the preview? We can meet like 7.30pm.

Truthfully, my expectations are high re the actors’ work with the puppets. They’d better be much better than the Rep Summer Workshop version. Haha! Pressure…

    Cheers,
    Lorna

The actors were all amazing! I most especially loved Rachel Alejandro, Felix Rivera and Joel Trinidad. I also noticed that Rachel was the only one who’d actually look at the people seated at the first 3 rows (I was seated on the 2nd row) while the others would fix their looks straight at the balcony seats.

Laughed Felix’s impromptu change in his lines during the “Give Me Your Money” scene when one of the people in the audience forked over not money, mind you, but a used ticket of High School Musical. He commented on it in the middle of his lines saying, “Well, aside from this used ticket of High School Musical…there’s not much, is it?” The audience laughed. :D
