High School Musical Onstage at the Meralco Theater Video
The 14 July 2007 3pm performance of High School Musical Onstage at the Meralco Theater is a special one for us because it’s the show that our family bought.
We wanted to give added value to the theatergoer so we hired a face painter to put either a Wildcats logo, a basketball, a G-clef sign or a number on the young audience members.
Before the stage musical started, Lesley Leveriza went onstage to explain how everyone can help out in making the show better. In an unprecedented move, everyone turned off his mobile phone at the same time.
And then, at the end of High School Musical Onstage at the Meralco Theater, children were given red or white balloon animals and colored hair extensions.
Five lucky audience members won autographed posters, while three super lucky fans got a backstage pass.
Spotted watching the 14 July 2007 show were MYX VJ Karel Marquez (who played Gabriella Montez in Blue Rep’s production of the same musical), premier jazz vocalist Richard Merck and former Nickelodeon Philippines host Alexa Ortega.
And, just in case you’re wondering if Alexa is related to Cheska Ortega (Gabriella Montez), the answer is yes, they’re sisters.
A mini-reunion of former Playshop Kids occurred backstage with Sam Concepcion (Troy Bolton), Alexa Ortega, Cheska Ortega and Kathleen Francisco teaming up for a picture.
The Ching family also turned out in droves to support Seve Ching (Chad Danforth).
Thanks again to everyone who watched the show!!! I hope the video helps you relive some happy memories!

Hi Lorna,
Thanks for inviting us to Disney’s High School Musical. My daughter Ali enjoyed it the most. Thanks also for the autographed poster and the balloon. =) Will write about Avenue Q in the next few days. Hope that one is as successful.
You’re very welcome. And thank you so much for being so supportive of the arts!
I’m so sorry, but I have to disagree with the comments of the children who watched the show.
