Shell Katipunan Gas Pump Error (Ire)
3.30am of 13 July 2007 saw me at Shell Katipunan (across La Vista Subdivision) being loaded with Php 600 worth of gas. However, while the gas attendant was checking my car’s innards, the numbers on the gas meter slowly crept up to Php 603.47
Although the gas attendant assured me that I didn’t have to pay the extra Php 3.47, I saw Cashier Lorna from behind the glass pane staring beadily at the scene, which led me to ask as to who will pay the Php 3.47 if I didn’t.
The gas attendant said that he has to since it’s the management policy. In view of the fact that I didn’t want him to cover for the Php 3.47, I paid the Php 3.47 (actually I handed over Php 3.50) but asked for the supervisor.
I first ascertained from the supervisor the cause of the gas pump error, which turned out to be an anomaly when the gas pump is not used for a long period of time, such as in the early hours of the morning.
I pointed out that it would be unfair to charge the gas attendant for such an occurrence since it’s not an error on his end but that of the machine, and the supervisor confirmed that he himself contests management policy when such an incident occurs, which led me to make two requests.
One, please make sure the gas attendant doesn’t get charged the Php 3.47, and, two, please give back my Php 3.50, which is the amount of coins that I gave Cashier Lorna.
Both were done. Thank you Shell Katipunan!
