McDonald’s Mac Tonight Hot Fudge Sundae Availability Claim (Ire)

The Mac Tonight TV ads were very welcome because they assured the consumers that aside from the 24 hour service (except on Sunday when the 24 hour McDonald’s restaurants will close at 12mn and reopen at 6am), McDonald’s ice cream desserts, such as my all time fave Hot Fudge Sundae, will be available till 4pm or so.

McDonald’s Katipunan A craving for McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae at 3am on 26 June 2007 had me deliberately passing by (meaning I went out of my way) McDonald’s Katipunan, only to find out from Manager Mel that the newly installed sundae machine closes down automatically at 11.30pm daily, and they were still in the process of having it reprogrammed.

McDonald’s Eastwood City Off I went to McDonald’s Eastwood City where I have bought McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae in the wee hours of the morning on several occasions.

The McDonald’s Eastwood City Drive-Thru cashier tried to tell me that it is customary for the ice cream dessert to be unavailable at 3.30am because it’s the usual time for the machine to be cleaned. I disabused her of the idea and asked for the manager.

True enough, Manager Bernie Concepcion informed me that the reason why the dessert was unavailable was because the sundae dispenser was damaged and needed at least an hour to repair, at which point I requested him to call McDonald’s Emerald Avenue in Ortigas Center to ascertain whether the McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae was available there before I went off on what might be a wild goose chase.

McDonald’s Emerald Avenue The search ended at McDonald’s Emerald Avenue (in the Shell Station compound across MERALCO) just a few minutes before 4pm, the scheduled time when the ice cream desserts will be unavailable till 8am in this particular branch.
