Disney’s High School Musical Premiere

(From L) Cheska Ortega and Sam Concepcion in Disney’s High School Musical Press ConI will unashamedly admit that I got “kilig” with the Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez scenes during the 8pm premiere of Stages and Trumpets Playshop production of Disney’s High School Musical at the Meralco Theater on 22 June 2007.

There was that unmistakable crackle of magic between lead stars Sam Concepcion and Cheska Ortega as they sang together the reprise of What I’ve Been Looking For as they inadvertently auditioned for the high school musical.

This was further reinforced between the two characters during the rooftop scene where Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez do the classic romantic boy-girl dance and song routine I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, with Sam Concepcion athletically going through his moves ala Gene Kelly.

Despite their youth, Sam Concepcion and Cheska Ortega showed great depth and emotion that can only strengthen with additional performances.

At the end of the premiere of Stages and Trumpets Playshop production of Disney’s High School Musical, I was so moved and impressed that I had to profusely and personally thank acting coach Menchu Lauchengco – Yulo for doing such a fantastic job with helping out the budding young actors.

    i don’t think that cheska has bad attitude and maybe that account was only fake.I know that Empress Schuck is the girl that sam’s like i know that cheska is prettier than empress but for me i don’t care about sam’s lyf….that’s all!!!
