7 Things I Learned from iBlog3

1. I learned that if I ever go online in the country of Myanmar aka Burma, I will be required to register, and the internet owner will take my picture every five minutes; and all the pages I visited will be reported to the government, which will surely not include accessing email in Yahoo or Google.
2. I learned that problogger means, not for or “pro†blogging as I thought, but is short for professional blogger, which is still not entirely clear to me as to what it means.
3. I learned that DSL is the “dominant means of accessing online gaming,†with PLDT’s share estimated to be a whopping 80%! (Sounds like it’s bordering on a monopoly…)
4. I learned that the larger than life Dean Alfar and, according to Jonas Diego, the dessert of the meal, had his Palanca Award winning work online every step of the way. Mind boggling indeed…
5. Speaking of Jonas Diego, on the issue regarding free web comics versus the printed version, I learned that he believes that the Web will “enhance the value of the printed comic book.â€
6. I learned that blogging can be such a heated situation that death threats can be exchanged to the point that news giant CNN will cover it.
7. I learned that Alexa is not a girl’s name but some sort of ranking system for blogs.
With The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards and iBlog3, I felt like an ostrich that momentarily removed its head from being stuck in its hole.
Due to work, I was only able to attend the first day of the two-day iBlog3, 13 April 2007, at the UP Economics Auditorium in Diliman Quezon City.
