Gatecrashers in The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards

Gatecrashers. Yup, that’s what I and my friend were essentially during The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards.

Totally wrapped up in directing the Learn and Play with Barney SM Supermalls shows for the past three weeks, I had marked the event on my calendar, but there was a Barney show scheduled on 31 March 2007, the same day as The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards, so I wasn’t sure if I could make it.

Thankfully, the Barney show did end with enough time for my friend and I to rush to RCBC Plaza Makati from Ortigas Center.

Talking with the Blog Awards reception staff enlightened me to the fact that we needed a print out of the tickets that were sent via email to the invited attendees. Even if I had been sent such an email, it would still have presented a problem since I don’t own a printer.

Anyway, a little bit abashed with my presumption that being a nominee would entitle me to a couple of invites, I asked, nevertheless, if we could still get in.

Curiously, I was asked if I were a blogger. I replied that I was but my friend wasn’t. Then I was requested to wait.

In the interim, I called up Manuel Viloria, who set up my blog installation and programming, to find out if he were coming so that I could at least say hello before leaving.

Well, all’s well that ends well, with the blog awards reception in charge allowing us in, and Manuel Viloria regaling us with internet stories and serving as a guide through the intricacies of the personalities behind the Philippine blogging scene. Thanks Manuel!

And an overflowing thank you to all the visitors of my site, for you are an invaluable part of the blogging experience. Thank you!
