Sun Cellular Prepaid Free SMS and Convert A Load (Eye)
In the Sun Cellular system, Php 150 load gives the subscriber 25 free texts that’s good for a month.
The Convert A Load service allows the subscriber to choose to convert part of his load for texts to other networks.
The Convert A Load service is advantageous for the consumer because the subscriber gets charged less than Php 1/txt. For example, converting Php 50 load will give the subscriber 70 txts to Globe or Smart, i.e., Php 0.71/txt
Why not include Sun to Sun SMS in the service? Sun is excluded because if the subscriber is in the I-text mode, the subscriber only gets charged Php 0.50/txt
What impressed me was the forethought that was put into the system, the objective of which is obviously to save money for the Sun subscriber.
This was made even clearer in one instance in my case. After having just availed of Convert A Load, the scenario was:
Remaining texts from Php 150 load: 3 FREE SMS to expire in one month
Remaining texts from Convert A Load: 70 SMS to expire in 10 days
I assumed that all Sun, Smart and Globe SMS I will send from that point on will be charged against the remaining 3 free texts from the Php 150 load, after which, I thought the Smart and Globe SMS will be charged against the Convert A Load and my load will be lessened by Php 0.50 per Sun SMS.
Not at all. The good folks at Sun are steps ahead of me. In such a scenario, the Globe and Smart texts get charged against the Convert a Load texts, and only the Sun texts gets charged against the free SMS.
Wow! As I’ve mentioned, foresight on Sun’s part. Thank you!
Plus, it’s easy to keep track of your Sun account because of the free SMS balance request that is concise and complete in its information.
P.S. This experience was brought about by an effort to support TXTPower’s moves against Globe in its decision to double its UNLIMITXT prices. In line with this, I decided to buy a new Sun SIM pack since my old one expired, and thus I began to be reacquainted with Sun’s services.

Since we text each other so much, I’m trying to convince my officemates to buy the SUN Php 59 SIM so that we can use the UNLITXT 150 that’s good for 1 month of unlimited texts and 4 hours worth of free calls.
