Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown
Fitness First Ortigas will be highlighting its anniversary with a Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown on 28 February 2007 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the GX Studio.
Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown Mechanics
1. All Fitness First members are eligible to join.
2. A team is composed of one Nike Rockstar Workout instructor and 2-3 Fitness First members.
3. Each team will be given 10-15 minutes to teach a block from the current Dancehall release or the earlier Hiphop release. The block must include a breakdown and the class participants must perform the finished choreography 3-4 times. The mirror style of teaching will be enforced so teams must instruct with left lead or facing the class.
Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown Criteria
Nike Rockstar Team Synchronization 25%
Nike Rockstar Team Performance 25%
Nike Rockstar Team Energy 20%
GXI (Group Exercise Instructor) Skills 15%
GXI (Group Exercise Instructor) Physical Execution 15%
My Thoughts
The main weakness of the Nike Rockstar Workout is that the breakdown of the Jamie King choreography is dependent on the skill of the Nike Rockstar Workout Instructor to take the complicated steps and present them in smaller more manageable chunks that can be put together in the end (so unlike the Les Mills programs that have the breakdown built into the choreography).
Therefore, it is critical to pair up with an instructor with said skill.
Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown Prizes All the Nike Rockstar Workout Hiphop Dancehall Showdown team members and class participants may expect to enjoy prizes and giveaways from Nike Philippines, Fitness First Ortigas and other anniversary sponsors.

don’t know how else to say this… but i’ve been listening to can since 14 (24 now) and i finally made something i think is good
enough. and i figured you might dig it.
it’s here: http://tago-mago.net/music.htm
remixes of the streets, marvin gaye, mos def, b-52’s, cocteau twins, more
hope you like it

The “Eardrums shall fail” blog said:
“Remixing is raised to art status when you give new life to music, any type of music. To see potential in a boring cut, to push the
envelope all the way to different galaxies, to let your mind wander where the originary intention left off, all this presumes passion
and marquees lighting up over your head as opposed to a mere lightbulb. A writer, most of the cases, is a passionate reader and
afterwards a remixer of words. Tago-Mago does that with music. I may not like each and every track but that would be a strange and new
feeling anyway. Rarely have I heard a reinvention of music I was, or thought I was, familiar with, in such unexpected ways. His major
influence is Can, and the mixes are inspired by a variety of hip hop and electronica artists.”

I’m joining this contest, but the way the rules were explained to us, we can mix moves from the Dancehall release as well as the initial Hiphop release.
I’ll confirm this just to be sure.
Actually, that would make more sense because the Nike Rockstar Workout Dancehall just got released recently, plus the workout is supposed to last for two hours, so the participants do need more material. Please do clarify. Thanks.
I texted Ms. Fhe Manalili-Samia, Group X Coordinator for FF Ortigas, and she explained to me that both releases can be used.
Team leaders will break down moves selected from the Hiphop and Dancehall releases. It’s up to them whether they decide to use moves from Hiphop or Dancehall only, or mix the moves.
At the end, the whole tribe will get up on stage and run through the presented moves 3-4 times with energy and drama.
Last night was a blast as it turned into a Nike Rockstar marathon. The competition ended at around 10:30pm with the announcement of winner and runners-up.

The Nike Rockstar Dancehall moves are featured in Marie Claire Philippines magazine March 2007. it didn’t mention though that it’s exclusively available at Fitness First.
There will be a Fun Run tom 14 April 2007 at the launching of the Nike Plus products in their new store at Bonifacio High Street near Serendra One at Fort Bonifacio Taguig
I would like to learn how to choreograph the nike rockstar workout to my own class.
I would like more information regarding the classes and how to teach it.
