Manila Chinatown Chinese New Year Festivities 2007

Ongpin Goodwill ArchGerry Chua, a prominent figure in Manila Chinatown, has announced that there will be a week-long parade of activities in the major artery of Manila Chinatown, Ongpin St. in Binondo, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year on 18 February 2007.

14 February 2007 Concert of Mandarin Love Songs
15 February 2007 Little Ms. China Contest
16-17 February 2007 Chinese Cultural Showcase and Parade of Floats
18 February 2007 Fireworks Display and Dragon Dance

According to barangay officials, all the shows are scheduled at 6pm at the corner of Ongpin St. and Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz, which is the area beside the Binondo Church.

Gerry Chua, also the owner of the famous Eng Bee Tin Deli, which is well known for its delicacies such as hopia, has, in addition, announced the new healthier variants of its tikoy, a staple in any Chinese New Year celebration — the sugar free Tikoy Lite and Ube Tikoy Lite.
