Shopwise Araneta Non-Entry Before Closing Time (Ire)
Ten minutes seemed more than enough time to dash in to buy some cucumbers and carrots before Shopwise Araneta closed at 11pm on 25 January 2007. However, a guard’s crisscrossing arms to indicate ‘No Entry’ blocked the car’s entrance to the parking lot.
Said guard turned away with the intention of walking away without an explanation, but I called his attention and got the information that the parking lot closes by 10.45pm and only allows cars to exit.
Dissatisfied, I drove to the Shopwise Araneta side where pedestrians entered, and found that they were still allowing customers to come in. I parked illegally and asked Customer Service for the supervisor.
I ascertained from Supervisor Dinna Echevarria that Shopwise Araneta does close at 11pm, and after having done so, informed her that I was refused entry despite the fact that it wasn’t 11pm yet.
When the parking lot guards couldn’t be raised on the radio, Supervisor Dinna Echevarria personally went to the parking lot herself to find out the details.
When she returned, she disclosed the fact that the guards had the mistaken notion that parking was to be disallowed by 10.45pm, and that she had scolded them for doing so with the instruction to let customers enter with their cars till 11pm.
