Shell Super Unleaded E10

Shell Gas LogoDriving into the Shell gas station had me quizzically looking at the banners proclaiming Think Green E10. The Shell gas attendant I asked as to what E10 was got a little bit flustered so I asked if they had a flyer. Here are some interesting highlights.

What is Shell Super Unleaded E10? Shell Super Unleaded E10 is a new unleaded gasoline with 10% ethanol, hence, E10.

Ethanol contains more oxygen, which will help with the car’s engine combustion, which, in turn, contributes to the environment by producing less pollutants as ethanol blended gasoline burns more cleanly as compared to gasoline.

Why did Shell launch Shell Super Unleaded E10? Shell launched Shell Super Unleaded E10 in support of a government program that hopes to decrease oil imports while developing the local economy. For example, the first ethanol plant in the Philippines will open this year in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Is Shell Super Unleaded E10 safe for my engine? Shell has experience with ethanol blended gasoline for 25 years in countries such as USA, Brazil, Sweden and Thailand. However, it is recommended that one consults his vehicle handbook regarding this matter, especially pre-1990 vehicles.
