Free Starbucks Spark Hope Sticker (Eye)

Starbucks Philippines 2007 PlannerFive remaining spots awaited a Starbucks Spark Hope sticker in order to complete the requirements for a Starbucks Philippines 2007 Planner.

My friends and I were armed with a 3-day unredeemed Starbucks receipt and the determination to drink at least 3 of the required beverages on that afternoon of 05 January 2007 at Starbucks Gateway Mall.

However, that would only account for 4 Spark Hope stickers. We were only three in number but we were prepared to buy an extra cup to complete the 5 Spark Hope stickers.

But I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask for the last Spark Hope sticker, and the words, “And could you please add one more…” were barely out of my mouth when Barista Padex stuck the fifth sticker to complete the Spark Hope card, which made me think that the request was even unnecessary.

I spoke with Supervisor Donna to commend Barista Padex, and also mentioned the fact that my sister noted two males from a nearby table taking video of two young male children who were ordering from the barista. The two adults and the two children were not companions since the children sat at another table, which makes the adult males’ actions quite dubious. On one hand they could be independent filmmakers, but on the other hand they could also be planning something nefarious.

I suggested that the security guard, aside from being by the door, should make his presence felt by going around the store once in a while.

His added security rounds may also discourage the sale of sweets by children, posing as customers and escaping attention by being well dressed, yet offering the hidden sweets from hand carried plastic bags and going discreetly from table to table.

A couple of hours later, we spotted these same two children still working at a different part of Gateway Mall, specifically, exiting Dairy Queen. Shame on their parents!

A last note for Supervisor Donna was to please remind their personnel not to block requests for any managerial presence. I first made the request through the maintenance person who did not get her but the security guard instead. I was further irritated when the security guard didn’t summon her, so that I had to approach a barista and make the request for the third time.

And as I prepared to speak for a couple of minutes with Supervisor Donna, the security guard had the temerity to position himself so that he could eavesdrop on our conversation. I made a motion for him to leave, which he did.

Please advise the security service provider to train their people better. Thank you very much…

And with these distracting incidents out of the way, let it not detract from the generosity of Barista Padex, which made my friend so ecstatic, as she received the planner that’s going to turn into a scrapbook of her life this year. On her behalf, a fulsome thank you!

(P.S. Starbucks Philippines 2007 Planners may still be redeemed by completing the Spark Hope cards by 31 January 2007.)
