Starbucks Customer Satisfaction Guarantee (Eye)
An order of classic hot chocolate this morning, 22 October 2006, at 7am at Starbucks Eastwood City Walk 2 produced three cups of beverage — one to correct a mistake, and two to satisfy the palate of a long time drinker of Starbucks hot chocolate.
My friend always orders the hot chocolate with no whipped crème at Starbucks, which explains why she is so familiar with the taste of the hot chocolate drink.
But one look at the top of the hot liquid already formed some doubt that she had the right order, and a whiff confirmed for her that she had been served coffee instead of chocolate. Although she was positive, I was the one who urged her to take a sip to ascertain that it was incorrect.
The barista readily agreed to change the latte to the ordered classic hot chocolate. And when we found out that she was going to throw the latte after having shown it to the manager, I requested if she could just give it to me because the thought of such wastage was abhorrent to me. Thankfully, the manager acquiesced.
Afterwards, a sip of the corrected hot chocolate drink still left my friend unsatisfied because the taste seemed different. At this point, the manager explained that two kinds of hot chocolate are now available at Starbucks.
First, there was the Classic Hot Chocolate with approximately 10% cocoa and 90% milk, and for those who desire more chocolate, the Signature Hot Chocolate was introduced a couple of weeks ago, which featured 50% cocoa and 50% milk in the drink.
The manager, Mr. Edwin Reyes Alde, generously offered to make the drink himself, and presented it personally to my friend. Of course, we thanked him profusely for being so concerned with customer satisfaction and reiterated that that is what we love about Starbucks — the overwhelming desire to please and serve the customer. Thank you very much!

As a fellow lover of dark chocolates, I’m glad to hear that Starbucks came up with that new blend and so I’m gonna look for it on my next visit.
I had a coupon for a free drink because I bought a Starbucks mug. It clearly states that I should have the mug with me when I avail of the free drink. But I forgot to bring it. But the Starbucks Tomas Morato barista was okay with giving me the free drink anyway.
I wonder when they will have Chantico here in the Philippines. Hmmm…..
Leah had the buy one take one coupon from the planner and so we were able to try out the new hot chocolate blend in the Starbucks Alabang Town Center branch. Love it!! Except for the gas…
I went to the Starbucks Coffee store in RCBC Makati and saw that they offered reduced fat products like reduced fat Blueberry Cheesecake, reduced fat Blueberry Walnut Loaf and reduced fat Orange Pineapple Loaf.
