Max’s Restaurant Selective Delivery Guarantee (Ire)
Aside from its recent tie up with the extremely hard to get franchise Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Max’s Restaurant has decided to expand its business by joining the competitive 30-minute delivery guarantee fray, but with conditions. A lot of conditions.
The most conspicuous one is the price condition, because the 30-minute delivery guarantee only applies to orders worth Php 2,000 or 6 combo meals with prices ranging from Php 154 – 192 (inclusive of VAT but exclusive of municipal tax). Under the assumption that you order 6 items of the lowest priced combo meal of Php 154, the minimum order in order for the guarantee to take effect is Php 924.
Moreover, the guarantee does not apply to items such as Kare-kare, Crispy Pata and Lumpiang Ubod. This implies that you should NOT include the combo meal of the Fiesta Plate (my favorite) in your order, because it includes a Fresh or Fried Lumpiang Ubod, otherwise, the guarantee will become null and void.
Furthermore, the guarantee is “until the delivery rider reaches the building’s lobby.†So, unless you work or reside in a building where you have a direct access to the lobby (like an intercom), you’ll never really know what time the rider arrived.
Although my experience with the Max delivery personnel is pretty wonderful, it doesn’t mean that the pressure of having to deliver within the 30-minute window will mean that behavior will remain the same.
The other conditions are the traditional ones like the guarantee may be “postponed during inclement weather or fortuitous events,†or the guarantee “only applies to the Metro Manila area.â€
So what do you get just in case your particular order passes all these stringent conditions? A free Half Fried Chicken Gift Certificate.
To have a 30-minute guarantee is, of course, good, but, the imposition of so many conditions at the same time is just exasperating. And there is the unpleasant implication that lower priced delivery orders will be shunted to the side as top priority will be given to these bulk orders because of the financial consequences for the company.
