Cockroach on my Shoulder at Pizza Hut Bistro Gateway Mall (Ire)

To my credit, I did not scream when my sister-in-law, who was seated right across me, told me urgently that I had a cockroach on my shoulder. I merely jumped up hurriedly and bumped the table. My sudden movement caused the cockroach (a rotund healthy half-inch specimen) to fall off straight onto my bag, which then scurried across the table.

I knew I couldn’t let it escape, so I scanned around swiftly for a suitable object with a flat surface. The wooden tray used for payment fit the bill, so I grabbed it and slammed it down on the fleeing cockroach.

The resulting clang of coins scattering and the cracking sound of the crashing wooden tray caused everyone in the vicinity to turn their heads and wonder at the commotion.

The advantage of killing the cockroach and having its carcass on the table, makes it irrefutable proof that there was indeed a creepy crawly.

Manager Kerwin Ortega, the same manager I reported the pubic like hair incident to, was present at the time and tried to apologize for the episode by saying there was an ongoing fumigation process in the kitchen that was driving out the creepy crawlies. When I demanded a freebie, he offered a measly wimpy looking salad.

What were we doing there in the first place? After the harrowing encounter in the past shouldn’t I be avoiding the place like the plague? Well, we were waiting for the Php 800 items that we needed to get a WWE Batista poster in order to join the Gateway Mall Batista autograph signing on 09 September 2006. When we got the items, we left hurriedly.

I pass by that Bistro often, and, needless to say, your stories have kept me from ever going in to eat there…

its a very infortunate incident but we’ve been a pizza hut customers for the past 20 years now. but for the past 2 year or so, we have been patronizing their new concept, the bistro at gateway. we find the ambiance a welcome sight and the service is like they treat you like a family, its warm and the staff makes it a point to really make you feel that they are serving the president…we are a large family when we dine-out, my sister is a chef working in a 5star hotel here and abroad & she enjoys the food at pizza hut bistro…(you all know that chefs are a little picky and makulit when it comes to food)…my mom loves their carbonara pizza and the pastas..my kids loves the green tea..eventhough we come on weekends like lunch when there’s a long queu, the staff are well trained to advise you in a nice way that we will have to wait for our table, the smile is still on their face, kahit some fo the waiting customers are unreasonable na…well the bottomline is all restaurants, whether be it 5 star or 1star, have their faults but we know Pizza hut is number 1 in maintaining high product standard and quality…so lets stop this pizza hut bashing once and for all!!!!

Hi Milton. It’s good to know that you love Pizza Hut Bistro as well. You may find it reassuring that Pizza Hut’s upper management values feedback very much, which is why I have pursued it all the way to the Area District Manager and he, Mr. Al Guillermo, has kindly offered to meet with me and my sister in law tomorrow, the results of which will be in another post. I’ll be sure to show him your comment so that he will know how much you love Pizza Hut. :-)
