Charlie’s Angels Reunion at the Emmys 2006
The present generation thinks that Charlie’s Angels are Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore, most of them unaware that the original trio that brought life to the three female detectives who outwitted their adversaries without ever using a gun were Kate Jackson, Farah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith, who, for the first time, reunited onstage at the Emmys to pay tribute to the departed Charlie’s Angels producer Aaron Spelling.
As Mirror reported, former angel Jaclyn Smith appropriately stated, “He’s looking down on us and smiling, knowing he brought us together as only he could.”
Aaron Spelling has created female icons over the decades of his career, from Charlie’s Angels in the 70’s, to Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins) and Krystle Jennings (Linda Evans) from Dynasty in the 80’s, to the Halliwell sisters from the series Charmed in the 90’s.
Aaron Spelling’s shows have undoubtedly influenced several generations of females who have pondered on their identity, femininity, fashion sense and independence. A heartfelt thank you to a man who had the tenacity and belief to produce shows that were oftentimes panned by the critics, but loved by audiences everywhere.
