3 Reasons Why I Use Shell Gas

Shell Gas LogoEnvironmentally Aware Advertising Campaign A few years ago, Shell overhauled its positioning and began a series of TV commercials that featured Shell employees who worked with the environment, creating the impression that the company was concerned about how their actions impacted nature and its inhabitants, as well as implying that they are realizing that there is a need for an alternative source of energy.

On its website it states, “Shell is a global group of oil, gas and petrochemical companies with a broad portfolio of hydrogen, biofuels, wind and solar power interests. Our aim is to meet the energy needs of society, in ways that are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.”

Of course, it can all be bogus and be just part of a PR campaign, but on the offhand chance that they are being sincere, I began loading my car with gas from Shell.

Computerized Tire Check System When Shell gas stations became equipped with the computerized system of checking tires, that clinched the deal for me.

After having had several mishaps with overblown tires from too much air, I really appreciated the computerized system wherein accuracy was the norm, because the computer would increase or decrease the pressure in the tires, depending on its state.

Consistent Service In general, from the wee hours of the morning to late in the evening, the Shell gas station employees are alert and ready to serve.

Aside from the general car check, the tire check is of utmost importance to me, and I usually expect the gas station’s employees to be the one to do it because I assume they have had training, so I really welcome the fact that the Shell gas station employees would volunteer to do so whenever I ask for it.

The experience is so unlike with Caltex gas stations wherein the service would be inconsistent. There are times when it would be fantastic because of the overall service, but there would be incidents as well that belie it.

Some Caltex branches would have its own employees perform the tire check service, while others would let the ‘kanto’ boys do it, which, of course, does not inspire confidence.

I even had one experience wherein the Caltex gas station attendant offered to sell to me tire plugs, which he said were missing from a couple of my tires, making me doubt his professionalism and honesty.

Priority List So, in general, my choice of preference will have Shell at the top, followed by Caltex, and then Petron, but I hardly ever go to Petron because my experience with the brand is very limited.
