News reports of Baguio City’s Christmas crowds, among them Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, made me remember the amusing statue of said president at the Barrio Fiesta Compound in Baguio City. The spectacle of statues, which include members of the famous Igorot tribe and Filipino political figures, line the compound’s stairs that lead to Barrio Fiesta, Bakahan at Manukan and Pinoy Hotpot.

P.S. Not only do the well known figure prominently in this display of statues, but also the greatly appreciated. Look for the statue of a man leaning against the stairs while texting on his mobile phone. He is a loyal Barrio Fiesta customer who has been immortalized, and thus, stands proudly among famous Filipino personalities and Igorot tribe members.
