Directing the the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Preview Party in Manila 2006

When Playshop Kid Aria Clemente opened the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Preview Party 2006 by singing a part of the local children’s song “Bahay Kubo (Nipa Hut),” the audience broke into spontaneous applause, not just once, but several times.

This same reaction was echoed by Nickelodeon’s General Manager for Southeast Asia, Christopher James, who sent a SMS to Nickelodeon Philippines Marketing and Communications Manager, Ana Pulido, five minutes into the show, “I am soOOO impressed, but, more importantly, very proud.”

The critical eye of Jack Madrid, general manager of MTV (Viacom owns both Nickelodeon and MTV), was also satisfied as he also sent a SMS to Ana Pulido, “Congratulations on the excellent show! You and the team have set a new standard. We are proud of you!”

The busy Christopher James and Jack Madrid were fortunately in Manila and managed to find time to watch the show.

As director of the show, I couldn’t be any prouder of the excellent work put in by everybody from the Stages Production Specialists, Inc., headed by Alvin Trono.

But most of all, a huge “THANK YOU!” to all who braved the bad weather that day, 08 July 2006, to support the Preview Party show by waiting in line despite the howling rain, playing the games, screaming and clapping for the performers, and dancing along with Sam Concepcion.
