How to Get to Avilon Zoo Montalban Rizal Philippines

I’m going to be describing 2 routes, the first of which is the LITEX Route. From the Quezon Memorial Circle, turn into Commonwealth, the same road that will take you to Philcoa, and much further on, Fairview.

Sandiganbayan Building

Sandiganbayan Building- Watch out for the Sandiganbayan Building.

Petron Gas Station

Only Gas Station- About 1.5km from the Sandiganbayan Building, turn right at the market. Stay on the left side and take the left fork, which is 10m from the corner. If you need to gas up, this is the only gas station on a 7km winding road that will pass the Payatas Dumpsite.
G

San Isidro, Montalban- Watch out for this road, which is quite easy to spot because it’s the first street that you’ll see with an island, plus all the tricycles are marked San Isidro at the back.
First Avilon Sign

First Avilon Sign- At the end of this 2km stretch, you will see Mercury Drug and the first Avilon sign, which is lost amidst all the rest. Turn left.
Total Gas Station

Total Gas Station- This is the next landmark. A few meters away will be a small sign saying Eastwood Greenview Subd. Turn left. You will cross a bridge and navigate a rotonda. At the end, turn right, which should take you out of the subd.
Avilon Zoo Sign

Avilon Zoo Sign- The concrete will turn into a dirt road. Take the first dirt road on your left. You should see the Avilon sign a few meters away.
Avilon Zoo

First View of Avilon Zoo- You will see Avilon Zoo on your right.

The San Mateo-Batasan Route I’m sorry but I don’t have pics of this route because my digital camera’s memory card was full at this point. This is a much shorter and simpler route, but it’s the one used by public transportation, so expect some traffic. But it’s a very comforting route because there’s a lot of establishments, unlike the LITEX road, which is relatively deserted. But be very alert as well of the sudden appearances of nearby residents who cross the LITEX road at a full run (thank God I was quick enough to hit the brakes when that happened).

As for the directions, there are some landmarks that will apply for both. When you see the Sandiganbayan Building, turn right immediately. Watch out for a sign saying San Mateo, at which you will turn right. Go straight the highway, which is roughly a 4-5km stretch. At the very end, turn left. Stay on the main road and then you will see Mercury Drug and the first Avilon sign.

Public Transportation

Take a Montalban jeep from Cubao, and you will pass through either Marikina or Commonwealth. The fare is Php 26. The jeep will pass by Total Gas station. Ride a tricycle going in to Avilon Zoo for Php 30. Make arrangements to be picked up after a certain number of hours because it’s unlikely that a tricycle will pass by Avilon Zoo.

Your route was very helpful. Thanks so much for posting this on the web!

  2. TheBachelorGirl on October 23rd, 2006

Thanks Ron. I posted the directions because it’s very confusing to get to Avilon Zoo, which is a wonderful place to go to but quite difficult to find. I’m glad you found the post helpful. I hope others will too. :-)

  3. Miguel on November 2nd, 2006

Hi! Do you know where we will we go down from the jeep? And where we can ride the trike?

  4. TheBachelorGirl on November 4th, 2006

    Hi Miguel,

Please request the jeepney driver to let you off at the Total Gas Station (the one pictured here). From there, take the tricycle.

Remember to make arrangements to be picked up at a certain time. Otherwise, it’s a pretty looong and dusty walk from Avilon Zoo back to the main road.

  5. karla on November 5th, 2006

hello. thanks. it was really a big help. i would just like to know if you could tell me how much the entrance fee is and approximately how long the travel time is. thanks so much!

  6. TheBachelorGirl on November 6th, 2006

    Hi Karla,

The entrance fee to Avilon Zoo for children and adults is Php 208 each which includes the amusement tax. Don’t worry, the fee seems large at first but it’s so worth it with all the animals you’re going to see. There’s a discount for senior citizens too.

Travel time, it will take at least an hour and 15 minutes by private car, so it should be at least 30 minutes more by public transportation. Have fun!

  17. freespirit on April 3rd, 2008

correction lang po. the barangay you mentioned, it’s not san juan, but san jose, montalban. wala pong barangay named san juan sa montalban. the tricycles are painted green with SNJ sign sa likod.

  18. payatas gold on September 3rd, 2008

ng Violago Parkwood, the only gas station in our place. Then watch out for the zigzag road on the boundary of QC and Montalban hanggang ibaba ng Mediterranean subd. hanggang junction (which they called “crossing”) which is not.

  19. hannah on September 15th, 2008

first i think naligaw kme..so our instructor ask for the people outside if where is the way going to that Zoo… We don’t know that there is a sign like that…. I’ve got stinky, I’ve got dirty but see I’ve learned. he he he

hi! we’re going to avilon zoo on oct 10 coming from makati. how do we go about it by public transport? we’re from davao so we’re not really familiar with manila =I hope you could help us. thanks so much!

  21. payatas gold on October 24th, 2008

Just follow that sign at
    hindi kayo maliligaw.

  22. carla on November 22nd, 2008

hi! were planning to go to avilon zoo this sunday, were from sta rosa laguna and i have no idea on how we get to avilon zoo. i hope you reply me asap. tnx

  23. TheBachelorGirl on November 22nd, 2008

Hi Carla. Please go to Cubao. You can ride the Montalban jeep from Cubao, and ask for help from the driver. The jeep will pass by Total Gas station. (see above) Ride a tricycle going in to Avilon Zoo.

  24. Payatas gold on November 28th, 2008

hi carla, good day! were you able to go to avilon
zoo? Di ba kayo nagkaligaw-ligaw papunta? Or were you able to follow as per directions or signboards?
    madali naman hanapin di ba?

  25. emy on January 5th, 2009

the informations you gave will be very helpful to us who are first timer around that place. May I ask if we can bring in food and if there is a picnic ground where we can eat, or its prohibited and food are exclusively bought from their cafeteria or canteen.

    Thanx.

  26. TheBachelorGirl on January 6th, 2009

Hi. I’m not sure about their policy now. But, yes, there is a shaded area where people can eat. Please call Avilon Zoo at (632) 941-8393 * (632) 948-9866 (63917) 899-5126 :-)

Sa mga pupunta ng Avilon Zoo, I suggest, kung medyo nature tripper kayo, pag labas n’yo ng main road, puwede kayo nag side trip sa Wawa Dam which is 3 or 4 kilometer approximately from the main road. Thanks

  30. Lei on February 10th, 2009

hi there! just want to ask how to get to avilon zoo, we are coming here from calamba laguna and we are thinking of taking the C5 route but dont know where to exit from C5. can you please help us? my kid are really looking forward to going on saturday. kindly include landmarks please coz we are not familiar with the way. thanks much

  31. TheBachelorGirl on February 10th, 2009

Hi Lei. It would be best to take C5 till the very end, which will connect to Katipunan Avenue. From Katipunan you will turn right into the highway where Sandiganbayan is. Then follow the instructions as listed above.

This is, obviously, going to be a long trip of at least two hours, so make sure to bring enough snacks and games. Have fun!

  32. sui on February 25th, 2009

pano pag galing ng ortigas? yan ba yung sa left side road from tiendesitas?

  33. Antonio on March 25th, 2009

The highway paglabas mo ng Katipunan is Commonwealth Avenue up to Litex Road ang pasok mo or Batasan Hills. Turn left at tuloy-tuloy hanggang maabot mo ang sinasabi na Petron Gas stn. sa may Violago homes up to Area 13 hanggang zigzag down to San Jose, Montalban up to Mercury Drug sa may highway, then turn left at tuloy-tuloy hanggang sa makita mo ulit ang signage ng Avilon Zoo. Tanong-tanong na sa mga locals doon. I’m sure mararating mo.

  34. joseph on April 25th, 2009

uh, paano pag galing ako south cotabato..? joooke. hehe. hope to visit soon. sana nga, pwede picnic. can anyone name what animals are there that makes the zoo special? i hear that zoobic is also nice kasi.

  35. jasmin on April 27th, 2009

suggestion ko lang sa inyong lahat na gustong pumunta sa avilon zoo: hindi naman kayo maliligaw eh maraming mapagtatanungan especially sa mga driver expert sila dyan wag lang kayong mahihiyang magtanong, ako nga taga ormoc city leyte 1st time kong pumunta don nag e explore ako may dala akong mapa at the same time nagtatanong ako sa mga driver, lalo na sa mga taga montalban. yun lang poh!

  36. mitch on June 2nd, 2009

  37. Antonio on June 18th, 2009

Hi mitch, good day, naka-punta ka ba sa avilon zoo, kasi medyo malayo ang way mo. pero sa way ng montalban lang, sira pati ang tulay sa burgos, direcho lang ang way mo hanggang sa may total gas stn. at itanong mo na kung saan ang papunta avilon zoo.

  38. Daniel on July 16th, 2009

  39. eastwood,greenview on July 28th, 2009

eastwood, greenview ang babaan nyan, and then sasakay ka lang ng tricycle ung kulay orange san isidro ata tatak non…, sa likod ng centella…

  40. chocola on September 3rd, 2009

    @mitch

  41. Antonio on October 13th, 2009

Makibalita muna

  42. balloonworld on October 22nd, 2009

Follow up on Antonio’s comment. Does anyone know if the road to Avilon Zoo is already passable?

  43. che on November 6th, 2009

hi, planning to go to avilon zoo but dont know if the roads are passable. or does anyone know alternate route if ever.

  44. Antonio on November 16th, 2009
