How to Get to Avilon Zoo Montalban Rizal Philippines
I’m going to be describing 2 routes, the first of which is the LITEX Route. From the Quezon Memorial Circle, turn into Commonwealth, the same road that will take you to Philcoa, and much further on, Fairview.
|
Sandiganbayan Building- Watch out for the Sandiganbayan Building. |
|
Only Gas Station- About 1.5km from the Sandiganbayan Building, turn right at the market. Stay on the left side and take the left fork, which is 10m from the corner. If you need to gas up, this is the only gas station on a 7km winding road that will pass the Payatas Dumpsite. |
|
San Isidro, Montalban- Watch out for this road, which is quite easy to spot because it’s the first street that you’ll see with an island, plus all the tricycles are marked San Isidro at the back. |
|
First Avilon Sign- At the end of this 2km stretch, you will see Mercury Drug and the first Avilon sign, which is lost amidst all the rest. Turn left. |
|
Total Gas Station- This is the next landmark. A few meters away will be a small sign saying Eastwood Greenview Subd. Turn left. You will cross a bridge and navigate a rotonda. At the end, turn right, which should take you out of the subd. |
|
Avilon Zoo Sign- The concrete will turn into a dirt road. Take the first dirt road on your left. You should see the Avilon sign a few meters away. |
|
First View of Avilon Zoo- You will see Avilon Zoo on your right. |
The San Mateo-Batasan Route I’m sorry but I don’t have pics of this route because my digital camera’s memory card was full at this point. This is a much shorter and simpler route, but it’s the one used by public transportation, so expect some traffic. But it’s a very comforting route because there’s a lot of establishments, unlike the LITEX road, which is relatively deserted. But be very alert as well of the sudden appearances of nearby residents who cross the LITEX road at a full run (thank God I was quick enough to hit the brakes when that happened).
As for the directions, there are some landmarks that will apply for both. When you see the Sandiganbayan Building, turn right immediately. Watch out for a sign saying San Mateo, at which you will turn right. Go straight the highway, which is roughly a 4-5km stretch. At the very end, turn left. Stay on the main road and then you will see Mercury Drug and the first Avilon sign.
Public Transportation
Take a Montalban jeep from Cubao, and you will pass through either Marikina or Commonwealth. The fare is Php 26. The jeep will pass by Total Gas station. Ride a tricycle going in to Avilon Zoo for Php 30. Make arrangements to be picked up after a certain number of hours because it’s unlikely that a tricycle will pass by Avilon Zoo.

Wow, what great directions. My friend and i had a hire car for the day and found the zoo quite easily. The hire car took a little bit of a beating on the final dirt road section though which was wet and muddy and some big holes. We asked the hotel to hose the car down at the end of the day so hope the hire company will never know. The zoo has only been open 5 years and already looks a bit tired but was still good to see, but also and more importantly the trip getting there was lots of fun as we also saw a lot of areas, sites and local peoples along the way.

Dont pass through the Litex road at night. Somebody threw a stone sa door ng sasakyan namin. Nasira ang side visor and medyo nayupi pinto namin. Just after we passed through the Petron Gas station last Holy Thursday at around 8:00 pm, we came from Wawa dam. Natakot talaga kami. We thought mas mapapaganda trip namin, first time lang kasi namin sa area. From Montalban kasi, may sign na alternate route to Quezon City, kaya dyan kami napadaan. Delikado pala dyan sa gabi. So beware!

Makibalita muna

@mitch

March 25th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
The highway paglabas mo ng Katipunan is Commonwealth Avenue up to Litex Road ang pasok mo or Batasan Hills. Turn left at tuloy-tuloy hanggang maabot mo ang sinasabi na Petron Gas stn. sa may Violago homes up to Area 13 hanggang zigzag down to San Jose, Montalban up to Mercury Drug sa may highway, then turn left at tuloy-tuloy hanggang sa makita mo ulit ang signage ng Avilon Zoo. Tanong-tanong na sa mga locals doon. I’m sure mararating mo.
February 25th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
pano pag galing ng ortigas? yan ba yung sa left side road from tiendesitas?
February 10th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Hi Lei. It would be best to take C5 till the very end, which will connect to Katipunan Avenue. From Katipunan you will turn right into the highway where Sandiganbayan is. Then follow the instructions as listed above.
This is, obviously, going to be a long trip of at least two hours, so make sure to bring enough snacks and games. Have fun!
February 10th, 2009 at 1:40 pm

February 2nd, 2009 at 9:56 pm
pno pumunta ng avilon pag galing ng antipolo?
February 2nd, 2009 at 10:29 am
Sa mga pupunta ng Avilon Zoo, I suggest, kung medyo nature tripper kayo, pag labas n’yo ng main road, puwede kayo nag side trip sa Wawa Dam which is 3 or 4 kilometer approximately from the main road. Thanks

January 6th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Hi. I’m not sure about their policy now. But, yes, there is a shaded area where people can eat. Please call Avilon Zoo at (632) 941-8393 * (632) 948-9866 (63917) 899-5126
January 5th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
the informations you gave will be very helpful to us who are first timer around that place. May I ask if we can bring in food and if there is a picnic ground where we can eat, or its prohibited and food are exclusively bought from their cafeteria or canteen.
Thanx.
November 28th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
hi carla, good day! were you able to go to avilon
zoo? Di ba kayo nagkaligaw-ligaw papunta? Or were you able to follow as per directions or signboards?

November 22nd, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Hi Carla. Please go to Cubao. You can ride the Montalban jeep from Cubao, and ask for help from the driver. The jeep will pass by Total Gas station. (see above) Ride a tricycle going in to Avilon Zoo.

hi! were planning to go to avilon zoo this sunday, were from sta rosa laguna and i have no idea on how we get to avilon zoo. i hope you reply me asap. tnx
October 24th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Just follow that sign at
hindi kayo maliligaw.
