The Little Blessings — Wet Socks and Car Headlights
A deluge of rain, the kind that makes you wish to stay home or reluctant to get out of the car, accompanied the Trumpets Life to the Max Concert on 03 June 2006 at the AFP Theater. Crawling among the parked cars while searching for a space, I passed by a car with its headlights on.
An increase of the downpour made me stay in the car for 10 minutes, but with no hope of the torrent decreasing its intensity, I heaved a sigh and decided to go headlong into the rain, and sent a silent prayer that I fervently hoped that the car with its headlights on was in that condition because the occupants just arrived.
However, as I searched the darkness, I saw the beams of light. Aargh! That meant I had to go and look at the plate number.
I had on my trusty 2-inch high boots that usually sufficed to keep my feet dry through puddles. But as I stomped through the rain, I was dismayed to feel that the water was higher than I thought and was seeping through my boots, until my thick Spongebob socks became totally wet.
Furthermore, upon reaching the car, I realized that the headlight’s beams were not enough to help me see the plate number. Immediately a cry for help went up to God, and God responded with a flash of lightning that illuminated the numbers and letters for a few seconds.
I informed the front of house regarding the situation, and I avidly requested that they announce it to make the small struggle through the rain worth it.
As Tito Freddie Santos, the host of the Trumpets Life to the Max Concert, announced the plate number after the impressive Akafellas performed, a female audience member immediately stood up and ran.
I texted a couple of friends, “My wet socks and dress were gratified that the car owner was in the audience.” Otherwise, I had no way of knowing how to inform the driver, maybe except through the security guard, who would probably not know what to do either.

Haha! Yeah! That was so funny when it was announced. I’m glad you felt “gratified.”
Thanks for making the effort to do that, Lorns. That’s what the whole concert was about. People helping people. That little kindness you did was a seed planted that will return a bigger blessing to you
Btw, the official tally isn’t in yet but I believe people were able to sow nearly 350,000 to help with Teri’s medical expenses.
