How Filipinos Eat Meat with a Spoon and Fork

(From L) Fork, Spoon and Knife

Filipino-Canadian Schoolboy Gets Punished for Eating with a Spoon and Fork- The 7 year old Filipino-Canadian Luc Cagadoc’s habit of eating with a spoon and fork has caused the lunch monitor to isolate him at least 10 times for not eating with the traditional Western utensils of a fork and knife in his Canadian school Ecole Lalande. At the moment, his mother is demanding for a public apology from the school.

Typical Meal- For the purposes of demonstration, I chose a typical Filipino meal of noodles, fried chicken and rice.
Tearing the Meat

Tearing the Meat- My model, Louise Fernandez of Greetings 2Go, is left-handed. Nevertheless, the Western role of the fork to keep the meat in place while the knife is used to cut the meat off the bone, is taken over by either the spoon or the fork when eating the Filipino way.

Robert, my son raised in the UK, will eat with knife and fork with any meal that we have EXCEPT when we have rice with the meal. I do it myself. I use the knife and fork most of the time but when I eat rice I revert back to spoon and fork. I just cannot imagine myself eating rice with a knife and fork.

I hope you are well and hopefully Robert and I will see you in August. Till then, take care.

I think the lunch monitor should be the one isolated for treating a child totally w/o love. It’s things like that which can scar a child indefinitely.
