Chuckles — Non-Qualified Teacher

Discussing our options after college, my friend, who’s based in England, said that she would like to teach.

In order for her to become eligible to apply in schools, she would have to take an additional one-year university course, with options for further training. When I asked her what her title would be after that one-year teaching course, she replied seriously, “A non-qualified teacher.”

I don’t think it is non-qualified teacher. I am an NQT right now, teaching Science to secondary (high school) students (but hopefully I will be fully qualified by end of July). I think NQT stands for newly-qualifiied teacher.
