Ice Monsters Monstrous Service (Ire)

I was actually looking forward to a meeting on 21 February 2006 that was to take place in Ice Monsters in Shangrila Mall because I had missed the icy desserts, particularly my favorite—Taro.

To my disappointment, the cashier informed me brusquely that Taro was not available. To avoid further loss of time, I asked which other flavors were not on hand. Having ascertained what they were, I continued to peruse the menu board.

Usually, at this point, other establishments would have the staff chiming recommendations to help out the customer. The 3 staff members were obviously not inclined to do so as they remained stone silent.

Finally, I was able to make another interesting choice. Without nary an apology for not having included the pomelo in the unavailable list, I was informed again that my order cannot be done.

I couldn’t help declaring, “I give up.”

I left the ordering to my other meeting mates.

However, during the meeting, for some unknown reason, one of Ice Monsters’ staff members increased the volume of their in house music to a level that it became very difficult to hear each other.

I stood up to request them to turn the volume down. But, I had just stood up and have not even walked to the counter when the volume was immediately turned down, making me suspect that the volume increase was deliberate. Nevertheless, I still said thank you, but with a very dry tone.

I said quietly to the others, “Let’s never meet here again.”

Sarado na yata yung Ice Monster dyan sa ShangriLa Mall. Buti nga. Sobrang liit ng serving. Pero ganun naman yata lahat ng Ice Monster, maliit ang serving. Ice Mouse dapat ang pangalan.
