McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae Replacement (Ire)
What makes McDonald’s hot fudge sundae and other ice cream desserts such a standout are the creaminess and smooth texture of the ice cream. That’s why my friends and I make an effort to pass by McDonald’s whenever we’re in the mood for something cold and sweet.
To my dismay, when I got to my destination after passing by the drive–thru of the McDonald’s Greenbelt Makati branch last 12 February 2006 (Sunday), I discovered that the ice cream is not its usual creamy state, but had that rough texture that can be more commonly found with other fast food chains.
The problem was I was already in Quezon City, not exactly a stone’s throw away. And, no, just in case you’re considering the possibility that the partially melted state changed the quality, the ice cream does not lose its creamy smooth texture whether it’s frozen or melted.
A call to the McDonald’s delivery service number of 8-McDo (6236) got me the advice to call the Human Resources Department at 815.4708, but I would have to wait till the next day because it’s only open from Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
That was out of the question because that meant waiting more than 24 hours for a replacement, so I requested for the McDonald’s Greenbelt Makati branch numbers, which were 894.5959 and 819.3737, and I was able to talk to the manager—Mr. Joel Layones.
Predictably, Mr. Layones offered to replace the product, but when I explained that I couldn’t go back, his next option was to have it replaced when I’m in the Makati area, which was unacceptable since I do not regularly go to Makati.
I pointed out that there were numerous McDonald’s branches near where I was, and I emphatically reminded him that I was the one being inconvenienced with the whole situation, that I went to the trouble of finding out the branch number and calling up, the least they could do was to replace the defective product now, not in the near or far future.
Thankfully, Mr. Layones understood and arranged for the branch that I recommended to deliver the hot fudge sundae replacement. Moreover, he also promised to check the ice cream machine at the McDonald’s Greenbelt branch.
